Not a bad idea actually. Unfortunately people do buy into pop culture. One girl I work with left the faith after reading the Da Vinci code. She now does tarot (she calls them angel cards) card readings for people. šŸ˜¦

Yeah but, how can that be???..People in these forums are ALWAYS saying ā€œCā€™mon! Itā€™s only a book. Donā€™t get so excited about fiction; what harm could one little book do?ā€

I saw the NBC ā€œspecialā€ they had on the Jesus Papers. They were tyring to be as nice as they could to Baigent but even they could not save his lack of evidence. But if people want to believe his argument from silence, then that is their freewill.

However while I was watching the show, I did find a gaping hole in his Jesus-did-not-die-on-the-cross theory . The theory goes something like this

BAIGENT said:
-Jesus is hanging on the cross
-Jesus says, ā€œI thirstā€
-Somebody gives him a sponge soaked in an unknown substance
-This substance is basically ā€œknock out dropsā€ which puts him under (much like going under anesthesia during surgery.)
-When he falls asleep, he looks like heā€™s dead.
-This protects him from the trauma of crucifixion, which is what normally kills a crucified person.
-Since they think heā€™s dead, they take him down off the cross and put him in a tomb
-Later his followers bandage and clean him up
-Voila! Nobody gets saved. Christianity is in trouble.

šŸ˜› Unfortunately, Baigent forgets one crucial detail: Most people do not die from trauma during crucifixion.:nope:

Instead, they suffocate because one cannot breathe if he is hanging low in that position! If the romans wanted to end his life, they would not stab him or anything, they would break his legs (which is what they do to the two thieves.) This would keep him from standing on his nails :bigyikes: in order to catch a breath.

And so if someone anesthesized Jesus, that would cause him to hang lifelessly and suffocate in a matter of a minute. Those knockout drops might protect someone from trauma, but they do not provide oxygen.:hmmm:

This sounds like a re-mix of The DiVinci Code which was a rehash of The Daughter of God. Although NBC (I think) was talking about the ā€œnew and startling theoryā€ of the bookā€¦I seem to recall reading the exact same story in the 70ā€™s in a book called The Passover Plot.

This book is just to make money via DiVinci Code movie and it probably will. And being released in time for Lentā€¦is just to make Catholics angry. And it works

Michael Baigent was born in New Zealand
Why is it that most of the detractors of Catholic faith have blonde hair and blue eye heritage?
For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine, but, following their own desires, will surround themselves with teachers who tickle their ears. They will stop listening to the truth and will wander off to fables. As for you, be steady and self-possessed; put up with hardship, perform your work as an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
For the time came when Martin Luther would not tolerate sound doctrine, but aspired to be the Pope himself, and his cohorts who supported his cause tickled his ears and frolicked within his own fablesā€¦
Sorry, could not resist the temptation.

I may be wrong, but this Baigent guy is suing the DaVinci Code author, Brown, because he says the DaVinci Code was stolen from Holy Blood, Holy Grail. Baigent and his sidekick are really the most prolific recent recyclers of this nonsense, and Brown just appropriated it, not being creative enough to actually make it up himself.

You may want to read a book called Wiccaā€™s Charm, it is right up your alley.

Another case of anything to make a buck.
Has he sold the movie rights yet ?

He is the guy that is suing the da vinci movie over copyright of his holy blood, holy grail book. even dateline which was trying to make him sound good failed to do so.

an argument that was made on date line which is funny concerns the greek word soma which can refer to a dead or living body or even a figurative use of body. The author tried to say that soma only means a living body and that whats his name who came for the body of Jesus referred to his body as being alive because he used the greek word soma.
**
After John was beheaded, his disciples asked for the soma, body of John. Who in their right mind would call a headless body alive?

I volunteer to prove Michael Baigent is right. Let Michael Baigent sign a document that is backed up by all legal experts, police and courts not to proscute me. Hand me a whip similiar to the one used to beat Jesus, allow me to beat the ________ out of Michael Baigent with it, what was it 40 stripes? force Michael Baigent to carry a cross uphill both ways without gateraid, nail him to a cross, crown of thorns, while he pushes himself up to breathe to say everything Jesus said on the cross, Iā€™ll gladly give him a sponge of drugs, take him down off the cross after putting a spear into his heart. Lay him in a cave, treat him with the spices that were to be used on Jesus, lets see if Michael Baigent can convince us that he is well after 72 hours. I will be glad to volunteer.
