I suggest that you do not have enough knowledge to counteract your “friend”'s arguments, so just ask him to stop or stay away from him for a while.Hey guys,
My Protestant friend has been telling me that Mystics of the church are false. The strangest part is that he claims that the false Mystics of the Catholic Church have been infiltrating society to bring in “the new age”. I looked some stuff up and something on a website called “christiananswers.net” has said pretty much the same thing. It got me a bit nervous because I am not strong in my faith and it was saying the the church was pagan and stuff like that. How can I refute him? And How can I know that this stuff is not true?
Make a commitment to your faith. I returned to the Church over 20 years ago and am still learning!!! But I see that everything I have learned so far has hung together, and every question I have asked has an answer, so I trust the Church as Christ’s representative.
Faith is a virtue given to us by God. So, it’s a virtue and a gift. You know who wants to take that gift away from you, to keep you from growing in virtue? The enemy! And you can find your enemy in a part of you, like any desires you may have for being spiritually lazy or even sinning. You can find your enemy in people around you, who may want you to stay the same or even to join them in a place that is wrong for you. And the enemy can be found in the devil, who wants to persuade you away from God.
Every time you feel doubts, treat it like a temptation and pray for help! Ask God to increase your faith! Keep doing this whenever you are tempted to let go of the gift of faith God gave you.
Are you praying regularly? In my morning prayer,I thank God for having saved me by His grace. Part of the grace is the gift of faith! Think about that when you pray your morning prayers
