I agree with that. I agree that the Mass is the same Sacrifice of Calvary. I was just pointing out that we meet the Risen Christ in Mass, not the Dead One. After all, that’s why we believe that the Host contains the entire Christ, and not just His Body, since Eucharistic species are the Risen Christ, and death no longer has any power over Him.The Mass is the Eucharist or principal sacramental celebration of the Church, established by Jesus at the Last Supper, in which the mystery of our salvation through participation in the sacrificial death and glorious Resurrection of Christ is renewed and accomplished. So you see, we do participate in the representation of his death at Mass.
As I said, I’m not sure I would like cymbals at Mass. A poster said that the Coptic Catholics use cymbals, and I don’t have any problem with that. My big problem with using guitars and such at Mass is to me it’s a cheap imitation of the real thing, as in real rock music or a Protestant worship service. If I want to go to service with that kind of music, I can go with my mom or Protestant family members to get the real thing, not a cheap imitation of it. Going to a Mass with pop music, to me, is sort of like watching my mom rapping or moshing. (God forbid I ever witness such a sight!) It’s painful to watch older adults try to be “hip” or “with it.” That’s what I feel at those Masses.
However, if that was the only Mass I could attend, I would attend it joyfully, joyful because of the Eucharist. After all, God wants us to become saints, not asthetics. We can certainly become the latter, but the former is far more important
After all, I became Catholic for the Eucharist, not for the organs. When Father asked me, “What do you ask of God and God’s Church?” I said, “I wish to recieve the Eucharist.”
