Parker’s comments are not even intellectually honest.

Mormons believe God was once a man.

Mormons believe we can someday be Gods.

God did what Man does.

We must do what God did.

We are sinful.

We must do what God did who did what His God did.

Yet, the ONLY unsinful being in the whole scenario is God…

but then we can;t do wehat He did because we are swinful

And he can;t do what His God did because he is not sinful

???

The problem is, NO Mormon can be both honest and intellectually honest

Unless that person lives in a small 100% Mormon town in Utah, and obeys the church’s rule to ignore anything that can be construed as anti-Mormon. :egyptian: And believes that the internet is a tool of the Devil.

To Summarize:
A. Mormons believe God was once a man (a=b)
B. Mormons believe God was never sinful (a≠c)
Therefore God was not sinful (a≠c)
so Man is not sinful (b≠c)

Does the Mormon Church teach that man is not sinful?
No, the LDS Church does not teach that man is not sinful. Don’t Catholics believe that God the Son was once a man on this earth, and that He was never sinful? This is very simple.

Yes, but Catholics do not teach nthat God was once exactly like man is now and had to go thru all we are going thru

again, you can;t be honest and intellectually honest

Sorry, but you’re not addressing the syllogism presented by Stephen168. His syllogism:
A. Mormons believe God was once a man (a=b)
B. Mormons believe God was never sinful (a≠c)
Therefore God was not sinful (a≠c)
so Man is not sinful (b≠c)
Does the Mormon Church teach that man is not sinful?
does not have logical conclusions, because God once being a man, and never being sinful, does not mean that man is not sinful, for the same reason that Catholics can believe that God (the Son) became a man, and was not sinful, yet that does not mean that man is not sinful. His conclusions are not logical (and are applicable to Catholicism as well for the reasons mentioned).

But I understand why you’re trying to deflect from the actual point I was addressing.

Stephen,
I am confused on your logic, would you please explain the below

To Summarize:
A. Cahtolics believe God(Jesus) was once a man (a=b)
B. Catholics believe God(Jesus) was never sinful (a≠c)
Therefore God(Jesus) was not sinful (a≠c)
so Man is not sinful (b≠c)

Does the Catholic Church teach that man is not sinful?

and I understand why you need to run from old teachings.

Your false prophets were very clear.

And like I said, you are unable to be both honest and intellectually honest

Does the Catholic Church teach that man is not sinful?
The Catholic Church teaches Our Lord Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, was like us in all things but sin.

I don’t think that includes men of holiness.

and I understand why you need to run from old teachings.

Thank you for continuing to not address the point I was addressing, again, I understand why.

thank you for not being intellectually honest. I can understand why

(by the way, I started this thread…I am on topic…YOU are not)

I have asked other Mormons sincere question I usually receive a similar response that you give; which is say the Catholic Church does or believes the same thing and the example giving is not what the Catholic Church does or believes. So I am left not knowing what the Mormon Church teaches or practices while the discussion turns to explaining Catholic belief and practices.
A. is false. Your bolded conclusion is false.

Not really.
No, the LDS Church does not teach that man is not sinful.
A. Mormons believe God was once a man (a=b)
B. Mormons believe God was never sinful (a≠c)
C. Man is sinful (b=c)
Therefore Man is sinful, God was a man, but God never sinned (a=b=c except a≠c)

The problem with your original syllogism was that you attempted to posit that because Latter-day Saints believe that God was once a man, and was sinless, then man is not sinful. The parallel in Catholicism is that Catholics believe that God the Son became “fully man”, took on human nature, and was sinless, yet mankind is not sinless.

A. is false. Your bolded conclusion is false.
Thanks Stephen,
Maybe we have the crux of the definition problem here. **How do you describe the Flesh and Bone aspect of Jesus both before and after his resurection? **

The Flesh and Bone aspect of Jesus is what I believe the LDS refer to when they say God was once human.

Does the Catholic Church teach that man is not sinful?
I surprised someone who claims to have been Catholic doesn’t know the answer and doesn’t know that Christians believe there is only one triune God.

A. Catholics believe God was always God (a)
B. Catholics believe God was never sinful (a≠c)
C. God(Jesus) was not sinful (a≠c)
D. Man is sinful (b=c)
Therefore Man is sinful, God has never sinful, God has never been man. (a≠c, a≠b, and b=c)

Which leads to the question—Did Joseph Smith ever sin?
😃 🙂 😃
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The LDS believe every human (excluding Jesus/God) is capable of sin and has sinned.
It is the result of having free agency

Yes, Joseph sinned, along with Moses, Mary, Peter, Paul, Judas, Tom, Dick, & Larry. Mother Theresa too.

Thank you for continuing to not address the point I was addressing, again, I understand why.
Caprica, I hid all STM posts some time ago due to his disingenuous posting. I suggest you do the same.

(he also motivated me to change my signature)

Bumping my question for Stephen to answer.

I thank you. 😃 So people should emulate Jesus as much as possible, not JS?
