I attended an Assemblies of God Church for about 3 years. I understand Pentecostalism fairly well. So don’t even try to patronize me.

Pentecostalism is a man made denomination. As much as I love most of my Pentecostal brothers, it is what it is. And it is not only me who thinks it is a man made denomination, to you as well, and to history, and to logic and reason.

While I am glad and happy that it has helped you find Christ and start a relationship with Him. My questions are about you passing judgement on what is and is not man made. Of putting yourself above all others in matters of determining how to properly interpret Scriptures and of what is and isn’t a Church. And then open a thread where you clearly back a man made denomination.

It is contradictory. It is also illogical, it violates the law of non-contradiction.

I never understood the importance of baptism until I was baptized into the Catholic Church at Easter Vigil 2008.

Never stop seeking the truth. I will never deny my evangelical upbringing helped me immensely by introducing me to Christ. I am sure your upbringing has done the same. From my perspective there is truth in those churches, but there is also much lacking from the Church founded by Christ. Christ desires that we all be one as he and the father are one. The church was one for 1500 years and it should be still.

Just keep an open mind, seeking Christ as you continue on your path. I am so happy to here of your decision to seek baptism. That is very exciting.

What is “falling out in the Holy Spirit” where someone just falls flat on the floor randomly

I have seen this happen in my church when a charismatic priest or layman would come to do a healing service. They called it “resting in the spirit”. It happened to me once. The priest laid his hands on my head and I got very dizzy and collapsed. He was not pushing. His hands felt like they were on fire.

My recent road trips to Wisconsin have seen me driving by your area. I remember chatting with you last year about travelling … Okay, now back on topic.

The types of Masses I’ve attended include the High Latin Mass, the Low Latin Mass, the English-language Mass, the Spanish-language Mass, the Byzantine Mass, and a Mass in English preceded by the Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet and followed by a charismatic religious sister who led a healing service and ended the evening with Night Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours.

Basically, as long as the priest / religious is in union with the Pope and the Teachings of the Catholic Church, and basic reverence is present, I’m fine with it.

I was raised Catholic, walked away and then roamed around several denominations and non-denominations for about 10 years. I came back home last year, stronger than even in my faith. Like Jon said, I am very grateful from my fellow Christian brothers and sisters and I will never, ever deny them.

I back my faith as well, as do so many other Catholics here at CAF. So keep in mind that you will be called out when you claim something.

Titus 3:4 but when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of deeds done by us in righteousness, but in virtue of his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal in the Holy Spirit, 6 which he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.

Ephesians 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all.

Keep in mind also that while Christ is working in you, in this denomination there is people, these people (man) are trying as best they can to spread the Gospel in the measure of Faith that they have been given. Nonetheless, it is man carrying out. There is man to cry with, man to laugh with, man to go through trials with, man to help others with. But there is only one Christ. And just like Christ there is one Truth, not many. Man is God’s stewart on earth, He created us, man and woman He created us. Don’t disdain God’s creation.

I have been noticing more of a focus on baptism in some parts of the Pentecostal movement. One of Hillsong’s newest songs is “Beneath the Waters (I Will Rise)” which is specifically about baptism:

Sorry…I misinterpitated it.

I don’t know if my denomination has the 100% truth, because everyone has different versions of the truth. Muhammed’s word, to a Muslim ,is the truth and all who deny it are heretics.

To a buddhist, Buddah’s word is the truth.

To a Methodist, the Bible is the truth.

To a Catholic, the Apostles’s words and the Bible AND the Church’s laws are the truth.

I’l simply just going to research. Research.
