Excuse my ignorance, but I know very few things about Satanism except that most don’t believe in a literal Satan. But what are the nature of the rituals you perform? What ritualistic tools do you use? Since most don’t believe that Satan literally exists, do you not work with higher powers in rituals, and instead just use your own? Or do you even have any rituals? lol

Also, are there any similiarities with Wicca (since Satanism is considered to be pagan) or are they quite different? I’m Wiccan so just wondering about the differences and possible similiarities.🙂

I am sick to my stomach and appalled that this thread even appears on a Catholic Forum.

I have been involved in open spiritual warfare with next door satanists for months. They have killed my cats and taunted me about it. One they said was sacrificed for the New Year. They desecrated and decapitated a statue of St. Joesph and threw it on on our lawn after one of their full moon rituals. I have endured threats and taunts for months. And the police are apparently impotent until I videotape it. I thought that I was coming to a " safe" forum to discuss my Catholicism and spiritual warfare and now this tripe appears in the guise of civilized discussion.
I am quite sorry this happened to you. That is a horrible experience. But you must realize that you can’t label a whole religion evil because you had a bad experience with some people of the religion. There good and horrible people of every religion, not just Satanism.

Um…excuse me…we can’t label Satanism as evil? What?! Just what kind of forum do you think this is? I’m sorry, but that’s just about the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.

Yes we can and do! Satanism is evil, and revels in it!

I have a hard time believing satanists are nothing more then athiests, I am sorry just doesn’t fly with me. If you don’t believe in God well then you shouldn’t believe in satan either then. Hence if your are a satanist you worship satan.

If satanism is so innocent tell me why well renowned serial killers have been satanists? Why many killing spree’s have been linked to satanism? Why are so many violent crimes linked to the practice of satanism? From my understand Anton LaVey who founded the church of Satan in 1966 was a big fan of Charles Manson. He also suffered from mental illness and was a drug addict.

I have heard many stories from ex-satanists who give a very horrific story of what it is really all about. My girlfriend is a big fan of a pastor who grew up as a kid in the occult and his whole family were satanists. From what I hear they appear innocent on the surface to lure people in. He said many satanists practice witchcraft, bloodshed, cruelty to animals, and violent crimes.

No I am sorry if Satanism is really about simply being an atheist then they would be atheists and not satanists. I have heard what satanism really is from ex-satanists.

It doesn’t sound like a religion at all. Just a way to sneer at real religion. Tell me, as a Satanist, do you believe in good and evil?

I’m with you, Prince. They want to have their cake and eat it, too. They like to wear black eye-liner, dress in Halloween getups, talk about casting spells, black masses, satan, blood, and hell. And yet when they get called on what the real message of satanism is, they say, "oh, hell, (pardon the pun), we’re just a bunch of light-hearted atheists with Iron Maiden t-shirts! We’re harmless!

So far, that is what it sounds like to me too, but I’ll keep an open mind. It seems like rebellion just for the sake of rebelling. Does Satanism have any causes? Why are you rebelling against everything?

Blacktiger is just a kid, ease up.

Uh huh…

Hmmm. That’s odd, because yesterday you said:

Which is it?
We don’t consider self controlled indulgence evil, or sinful. We don’t acknowledge any kind of sin. that doesn’t mean we don’t set moralities of sorts.

I will repeat myself. Any blatently disrespectful statements will be ignored. Don’t pretend you know more about my religion than I do. Those who won’t listen to reason or have compassion or understanding (whether they be Satanists, Christians, Jews, etc.) should be shunned by mature soceity.

Not to be rude (I honestly am sorry if it comes across that way) but despite the overwhelming evidence that God exists, doesn’t it make sense to not get drunk all the time (hangovers) sleep with as many people as you want (std’s) smoke pot (7x’s more cancerous than cigarettes) and so on and so forth. And isn’t it an empty feeling to think you die and that’s it. And one of my favorite quotes will suffice as a closer “some things are true whether you believe in them or not.”
We reject mindless hedonsim. We believe indulgence is ok, NOT compulsion. Work out, stop drinking excessively, don’t kill yourself with drugs like marijuana or cocaine. It’s about being the best you can be, not just some immature teenager.

My sincere apologies to blacktiger. I did come off as too harsh there. I’m sorry. I will try to be more civil in the future.

Selkis: Please answer my question: Does Satan represent evil and sin or not? From your replies in this thread, it doesn’t seem as though there is a clear answer. Saying that you don’t recognize anything as a sin does not help me to understand you when you talk about evil and sin elsewhere in the thread. If you don’t believe in evil, why do you set up your belief system in relation to what other people call “evil”?

Hi Selkis. There are a few (none on this thread to the best of my knowledge) former Satanists of both theistic and non theistic stripes. They might well know your religion better than you do 😛 (I know one for definate was raised within a Satanist family).

Welcome to the forums, I cannot say your philosophical choice is appealing to me, at all, so my apologies if anything I say in the course of this thread insults you, it is not my intent, but at the same time I can’t pretend to like Satanism.

Also I have a habit of sticking my foot squarely in my mouth, so apologies there too.

We don’t consider things inherently evil. In other words, killing is not in a cosmic sense evil, but it SHOULD be considered evil by human logic. We believe that a lot of things Christianity considers evil, such as sex out of wedlock, or envy of others’ possessions, etc. are just natural human feelings. Thus, we logically include things like those to be acceptable as long as it brings no harm to others, or ourselves. Drink, but don’t poison yourself. And an inverse, be a proud individual, but don’t be arrogant, stuck up, or over all counterproductive. We like to use Satan because of his rebelliousness, not as a demonic evil destroyer.

Well, as animals we all have our perspectives. We all have our own views and prejudices. But, as logical creatures, humans usually conclude forgiveness is much more relieving than a grudge.

Hmmm. Alright. I was looking for more of a yes or no response, but I guess there isn’t one. Thanks for the reply you did give; it is illuminating in its own way.

Actually, logic has nothing to do with forgiveness. If someone does you wrong, logically you would want to get even with them. Forgiveness comes from the heart, and from following Christ and God. If your enemy does you wrong, you must forgive them 7 x 70 times according to Jesus. Logically, I doubt many humans would be able to make sense of that.

Satan, symbolic of rebelliousness…

therefore I ask, against what or who?

I think God.

🤷

Welcome to the forum.
