That’s the definition of harm, but that’s not what I asked. The question of what constitutes “harm” can be very subjective. For example, if someone were to slap me across the face, I would consider that “harm,” but to someone else it might be sexually exciting and pleasurable (and thus, not “harm”).

So who decides what is harmful to others, and what is not, and if their pursuit of pleasure will cause harm?

I didn’t contradict myself, ever. You seem to think I am which puzzles me, but I’m getting very frustrated saying the same thing over and over again. Do unto others as they do unto you = If a man smites you on one cheek, smash him on the other. It’ not complicated.

So the ideology of Satanism is based on revenge? Wouldn’t that be causing “harm” to another?

She was one of LaVey’s followers, and had no reason to lie. You must be a lower level member of the church of satan, as only the higher-ups are privy to this information.

Look, this is the bottom line; if people on this site are respectful to your beliefs (which is indeed being Christian) then it “candy-coats” the bibles message to an extent. The hard fact is this; no amount of belief or unbelief is going to negate the fact that Jesus died on a cross to save everyone who believes in him as lord and redeemer. So, on one hand yes people should be polite to you and not try and force you into anything, but on the other, anyone who denies Jesus Christ is an enemy to God whether or not you believe it (“some things are true whether you believe in them or not”) so I’m sure you can appreciate the rock and hard place scenerio this puts Christians in. While the bible preaches to love your neighbor, it also preaches to have nothing to do with false prophets or heretics, but God will never give up on you until the end of your life and I will pray for your guidence through the Holy Spirit. (Even if you already know what it says and are not impressed by bible verses please read Jn 3:16 just once, even when I sometimes feel angry at the world it always brings a tear to my eye. Calm down…don’t let one person get your goat. I do hope you realize that when you come to a Catholic forum and declare yourself a LeVeyan Satanist that you obviously won’t be applauded for your choice. A lot of people thought it strange that I knew so much about your philosophy, and one person back a page or two, even mistook one of my posts for yours just because I happen to read and have a rudimentary knowledge of LeVeyan Satanism.

Obviously for us Catholics, Satan is a real entity, and an evil one at that. I know this is hard for you to fathom because of the fact you are an atheist, and there is really nothing for you to equate it with in your own life, but to us he is the complete antithesis of God. It’s basically like if you knew there was someone in this world that’s sole purpose was to track down your parents and family and kill them, and then you found out someone was best friends with them…how would you feel about that person? That’s kind of the response you’re getting here. Even though you say you don’t worship Satan as a being (which I’m willing to believe that) even the fact that you use his name and reference him in your beliefs, even if only as a metaphor, would be offensive to us because we believe in Satan as a real being. I hope you understand, and I hope you realize that this is just a natural reaction and that it is to be expected when you come onto a Christian forum and boldly proclaim your Satanism.

La Veyan Satanists do worship Satan–that is, that man is his own personal Satan, so in that context La Veyan Satanists worship man himself.

I think Chris confuses Anton La Vey’s penchant for sometimes confusing his detractors by playing mind games with them, in that he would state that La Veyan Satanists worship a real Satan entity. AFAIK from La Veyan Satanism, they do not believe in the Christian view of who Satan is, but see man as his own Satan. La Vey would then play these mind games with his detractors by poking fun on them and letting them think that his brand of Satanism does worship a spiritual entity. From what I’ve read so far on La Veyan Satanism, it is more philosophical. Of course, that still doesn’t mean it isn’t dark–it is very dark, and even just a tour of the Church of Satan’s site will give one the feeling of entering into a very dark lair. As is warned there, the site is not for the faint hearted.

What is your problem with LaRock? are you insulted because he might be correct with his commments? The fact you have Satanist in your religious title is alone enough to associate you with Satan and being a follower of his, you just don’t seem to be aware you really are. Satan is the master of illusion, and I think Selkis he has used you to be a front for his illusion. He uses people Selkis, and then he ditches them to their fate.

Why would practicing Catholics be interested in what you have to say? What was your true purpose for coming onto this site? So people can learn about your religion? It isn’t even a religion. You simply don’t believe in God. But Catholics do.

Satan will attempt to deceive people that God does not exist. Whether you believe in Satan or not, you have been deceived somewhere in your upbringing that God does not exist.

Instead of trying to teach people why you believe in what you do, why don’t you be a bit brave and stick around to actually learn why Catholics believe in Christ and the existence of God. Using the excuse that you feel insulted is the coward’s way out of blinding yourself to the opportunity to believe.

Christians and Catholics get insulted all the time, but we generally stick it out because we have a belief and faith in a higher being and took a chance and believed. And for most Christians that chance to believe has paid off in being fulfilled in ways you haven’t given yourself a chance to experience.

I shall pray that God converts your heart and that you take a chance to believe, because believing will cost you nothing, it doesn’t hurt, but it is a chance worth taking.
