If it were only a matter of babies we would all be bacteria!
As a student I wrote a similar tongue in cheek article about radical feminists. I must have struck a chord. Some of the radical feminists – mainly older faculty – started referring to me as “THAT CATHOLIC BITCH!” I regarded it as a compliment.
It may also be accurate. I’m Catholic and I’m a bit bitchy at times so…
Now the interesting question is can a “Catholic bitch” get tenure in Australian academe?

Selection takes place at many levels. One is at the level of the gene itself – Dawkins’ selfish gene theory.
Another is at the level of bodies. No matter how selfish a gene, if it makes the body unfit it may not get passed on to the next generation.
A third level may well be groups. One theory is that religious belief evolved because it conferred a survival advantage on the GROUP.
You know, us religios will go and fight to the death in the hope of getting a reward in the sky while you atheists will flee in terror. So in the end the group with a proportion of religios in it will end up controlling all the best territory.
Now, for a cluster of genes to survive it needs to be passed on to the next generation. And atheist women may not be having enough babies to replace themselves. Effectively they may not be passing on their genes to succeeding generations.
There is ALWAYS selective pressure PLP. One source of selective pressure is the pill, good condoms and cheap, freely available abortion. That is the selective pressure that may – for good or ill – result in a diminution in the proportion of atheists in the population.
We may be seeing something like this happening in Europe where secular Europeans are being replaced by religious Muslims.
