To be crystal clear, nothing in Catholic theology supports the notion that God reverts back to His Old Testament days …
Neither is there anything in Catholic theology that says God has changed from Old Testament days to today. The immutability of God argues against your point. Marcion was excommunicated back in the second century.

Divine3:
Australia you have put an innocent cardinal in prison. Pray for your sake he does not die there.
He has been tried and convicted under Australian law.
Good case that the allegations are impossible.

The argument has to do with the impossibility of Pell getting to the sacristy from the Cathedral front door in opportune time, because the procession with the boys would have taken over four minutes to go around the outside of the Cathedral to get to the sacristy. Added together with the time taken by the boys to find and drink the wine in the sacristy before the procession arrived, that adds to over 5 and a half minutes. Pell couldn’t have had the opportunity within that time to ever have been alone with Cardinal Pell – based on the victim’s testimony, itself. The judge admitted that the five minutes immediately after Mass was the only time Pell could have committed the alleged act.

Andrew Bolt, the news anchor, did the timing and pacing himself.

I watch Bolte on Sky News. He is very supportive as is the channel, of Catholic things.

I believe he posted this before it became public from trial records that it was very possible.
Uh, no. The video is new. Nov 13, 2019.

ah ok. Bolte is commenting on what he perceives is Pells innocence. And that is his right. There are others who would do the same ‘test’ and get different results.
Ah, no. You haven’t watched the video, you haven’t understood the test, you are just guessing in the dark that others could do the test and get different results – you don’t know that with any certainty – and yet your conclusion – I would say not –is far less founded than Bolt’s.

That would be your opinion, but not a well informed one, since you won’t watch the video to actually get the facts at least to some degree of detail.

To be fair, he didn’t just speak out against homosexuality, he said gay people would go to Hell. That’s an important distinction I feel.
Yes, the family religion is a very fundamentalist one. They left one church to start another in order not to be tamed in their rigid evangelising. Folau’s cousin Josiah was sacked this year from a Sydney boarding school for referring to the Catholic Church as the “synagogue of Satan”. In fact, the majority of Australians are condemned in their perspective.
It might be worth noting that around 50% of the Wallabies (national rugby team) is now of Pacific Islander descent. And the great majority of people from those islands are very religious indeed.

This is a very secular country and it would look very odd indeed to have the national side ‘take a knee’ either before or after the game. I noticed that South Africa’s players did at the end of their world cup win.

All that occurs is either actively willed by God or permissively willed by God. Natural disasters then should be either seen as:

Corrections for the good nation and man
Punishments for the wicked nation and man

Australia is a wicked nation, therefore it is punished. There are good men in Australia and they are not being punished but rather blessed by corrective suffering
Are you for real ?

The whole world is wicked. NO ONE deserves to enter into heaven. Not a single human. God is pure and it’s only through The Lamb of God we are saved.

Jimmy if you think our loving God is punishing Australia or any other Country you may need to have a rethink of your Faith.

Jesus never taught this…

The bible is the sacred word of God and God definitely has and will use the nature he created as a means of correction for the wicked and many times, as in times of war, …innocent lives suffer too.

The Bible clearly teaches that God punishes the wicked and corrects the good through tragedy and disaster. Jesus also taught this. And the Church has taught this.
When a tragedy or a disaster befalls a child, what did he do to deserve punishment or correction? Also, in Luke 13:1-5 it says:
1 At that very time there were some present who told [Jesus] about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 He asked them, “Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans? 3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish as they did. 4 Or those eighteen who were killed when the tower of Siloam fell on them—do you think that they were worse offenders than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all perish just as they did.”
Isn’t Jesus saying that tragedies or disasters don’t befall people because they’re worse sinners than everyone else and that everyone needs to repent?

Jimmy we will have to agree to disagree my friend. I do not believe for one moment Australia is being punished.

Not a random example will prove this point. This is about a different issue, not about the mystery of suffering or evil. This is about God’s justice. God is justice and mercy at the same time. Humans can’t be justice and mercy at the same time…only God has that power.

e whole world is wicked
No that is not a teaching of the Church. God created and it was good. We have a tendency to sin but any wickedness comes from choosing sin and never seeking repentance. Protestant view is the wickedness of the world and of the person. Catholic view is different.

Im Australian. This man is Israel Folau. He was dropped from the Australian international rugby team for voicing his opinion on gay marriage.
I like the guy but I don’t agree with the comments he made here. Bushfires and drought are a part of this country year in year out. Some media sources were blaming the bushfires on climate change.
I think these kind of claims are insensitive to the victims of these tragic events.

Hoping no one in this forum wants anyone to be hurt or harmed. But eternal salvation is more important than anything. Praying for all who try daily to please God, follow His commandments and seek to protect life from conception to natural death. Praying for all their needs at this time But any country that no longer seeks to obey God , love God and love their neighbors will have consequences for their actions…any country.

He is not the only Christian in the world to think so. Pat Robertson is another who comes to mind, and there are many others, I’m sure. This is the province of some Fundamentalists and Evangelicals, but I don’t believe most Catholics buy into it, nor should they.

The belief that God intervenes in the affairs of man is at the foundation of all monotheistic religions. He does so repeatedly in the Old Testament.
Christianity is based on God’s intervention when He brought his Son into this world. This is the rock upon which Christianity is built.
Anyone believing this has no trouble imagining that God has the power to once again intervene if He so chooses. Neither the Catholics nor the Evangelicals or even Pat Robertson himself know if and when God decides to do so.
If we Catholics don’t “buy into” this idea, as you suggest we should not, than we actually stop believing in God almighty. I assume that this is not what you are proposing in your post.
