Well, there’s your answer: the Vatican and the Archdiocese of Detroit don’t recognize them, so who needs them? They are preaching some other doctrine.

Sounds like some Filipino group. Just the other day I tuned into very early TV here in Detroit and found some guy that sounded like a Protestant but who was dressed in a chasuble and kept moving from English into Tagalog and back. Maybe he belonged to this cult. I didn’t get his name, though the broadcast originated from Baguio City in the Philippines, but I’ll tune in again. I wondered then if he was with that “Iglesia ni Cristo”.

Thanks for the information, this thread has become informative on both sides, for one to draw a conclusion.

I was probing to see if this group BNP has entered my diocese under a different name. This new group in my area call themselves catholic, are teaching and administering sacraments with a priest that our Bishop does not recognize as possessing all his faculties.

I have found many of our Spanish speaking community flocking to this new unauthentic catholic church to have their children and young adults receive sacraments due to low costs and time convenience. When these come to our Parish to recieve Confirmation or Matrimony, our Bishop do not recognize their sacraments as valid, so they have to redo their sacraments. This new catholic community has caused much confusion among the body of Jesus Christ. But I cannot confirm if this is BNP in my diocese.

I believe all Catholics should follow protocol by listening to their pastors and Bishops (our shepherds) before entering BNP until the Catholic Church makes this BNP worthy of belief. For a Catholic to enter BNP at this time enter at their own risk without the blessing of the Catholic Church.

If BNP is of God we have nothing to fear, but if it is of the Evil one posing as an angel, the Woman and her seed will deliver it a deadly head blow to it, in the end.

When St. Paul recieved his new Revelation from God, he sought out the Catholic Church Peter (Cephas) specifically. This is what BNP needs to do first before teaching the body of Jesus Christ. What is miraculous here is that Pauls new revelation and teachings did not conflict with Peters. So should it be with BNP and Peter (Pope) today if it is Truth, because Truth does not conflict.

Correction: The Vatican is fully aware of the existence of BNP. Only time will reveal God’s Plan. In the meantime, no one is forced to be part of this religious organization that follows the Catholic Faith. However, the mission of the Banal Na Pag-aaral only hopes to bring people closer to God. The Truth shall set it free. “If it’s a work of Satan, it will destroy itself… but if it’s from God, you are fighting with God.”

Hello Everyone! I’ve been googling the net today to find out what the world has to say about BNP (Banal na Pag-aaral). I’m surprised to find this thread, which provided a lot of both positive and negative insights, so I immediately signed-up today so that I can post my own questions and views about this matter.

To start off, I found the information posted by “BNP Adorer”, which i quoted above, very disturbing. Is there anyone who can refute these strong allegations against the integrity and moral character of Ate Salve? I didn’t quote everything that “BNP Adorer” posted, but I hope someone can provide concrete evidence to disprove all the attacks against Ate Salve’s moral attibutes. Why? Because of all the evidence presented here to prove that BNP is a so-called “cult” or non-Catholic, these allegations about Ate Salve’s character are the ones that really shook me.

As you have probably guessed, I am also a graduate of one of the BNP “Panawagan” classes in the Philippines way back in 1999. I admit that I found the “In-dwelling” phenomena quite disturbing and I didn’t have a solid stand on whether it is possibly God’s work or not, so after the retreat, I decided to just pick up all the good lessons that I learned out of that spiritually-renewing experience and I continued with my journey to build on my personal relationship with God by joining other more widely-accepted Catholic groups, like the CYA (Christ’s Youth in Action), and by daily Bible readings, daily prayer time, etc… I also frequented the PEA Adoration chapel and the receipt of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. In short, I decided to keep an open mind about BNP, kept all good stuff that I learned, but just continued to observe them from a distance.

I attest that a majority of BNP members have a very holy demeanor, which I believe would be the result of the regular PEA Adoration vigils, Rosaries, Masses, and receipt of the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist (in case you haven’t noticed yet, these are the highlights of the BNP and I have consistently observed this first-hand from the active members surrounding me, i.e. my mom, my godmother, close neighbours, etc.). Because of this, I didn’t really think that BNP is the work of the other side.

However, if the chairperson of this organization has falsified documents (e.g. passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate), then I feel obligated to find the truth about this.

I’ve read good posts from Believe, BigJ, SRaymundo, etc. I hope you would also be able to provide proof that BNP Adorer’s allegations about Ate Salve’s character are all false.

I came across this thread just yesterday even though it started in 2005. I spent the whole 4 hours reading this thread and at first I was upset at those who keep bringing up negative and misconstrued information about Banal Na Pag-aaral or Holy Study, Ate Salve and Mahal Na Ingkong.Then I realized that it’s not worth it because only the TRUTH will set it free in God’s time.

There is a saying that goes something like this…
===> If it is a work of the devil, it will destroy itself. BUT if it is from God — and you are destroying it — you are fighting with God Himself. It would have been better for that man to have never been borne because it is like putting a rope around his neck with a big rock hanging at the opposite end and throwing himself to the fire.

So for those who speak ill about BNP or anyone/anything for that matter without full knowledge of the truth, in all sincerity and love, I pray for your soul that it may find rest.

I am your Sister in Christ, very fortunate to have graduated the Banal Na Pag-aaral Panawagan Class #17 in San Francisco, CA in June 1992… UNDER THE GRACE OF GOD!
And I’m also fortunate to have graduated the Marian Retreat class in April 1995… UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY!

Lastly, I am proud to be a faithful Catholic since birth AND thanks to BNP for strengthening my faith in God = Papa Jesus = Mahal Na Ingkong.

So, I return a few years later and I find that there’s quite a few responses to this thread. I too sat through here and read for hours to catch up on everything.

Bottom line is…

1. BNP is a cult.
2. People in BNP for the most part are good, kind hearted and well-meaning people.
3. It has been defined as a cult and in fact has been BANNED by numerous archdiocese in several states here in the US and world-wide.

I will also say that, as well intentioned most of the BNP followers are, they are obviously brainwashed and don’t even know it. They will do everything in their power to protect their denomination because they truly believe they are in the right and “feel” the love and life that it has brought them. Good for them, I say.

However, if you truly want to be a follower and disciple of God/Christ, the only place you can truly become one is what is told to you in the bible… which is the word of God. No if’s and’s or but’s.

Also, I don’t think anyone is persecuting this church. We’re just stating facts and have furnished documents to prove that the BNP has been banned from the Catholic church and it’s teachings. But I know that, irrespective of the facts provided, there will be another brainwashed (albeit good and well intentioned) BNP member that will return to post a response based on their “feelings” about their denomination to make it seem legitimate.

I find that every time i ask a question the only way they answer me is by telling me to attend a retreat class. Im scared that they might brainwash me. what actually does happen at a retreat class? I would be very skeptical and be very cautious. Ask for a letter of endorsement or approval from your local bishop and inform your parish priest about this group to see if he knows them. Or call the archdiocese yourself. If they have a foreign priest with them (from the philippines, most likely), ask for the priest’s letter of endorsement from his Phil Bishop. Most phil dioceses have now their own websites, so you can check the diocese if the priest is a legitimate catholic priest.

If they are evasive or continue to change subjects, then their motives are suspect.

If they say their Sister xxx is imbued with the Holy Spirit, ask them how they know is the HS and not an evil spirit? Continue to be skeptical.

I did this before. I was at a special novena mass when a woman, out of the blue, started dancing in from of the altar, claiming the HS urged her to dance. She also claimed the power to heal. At the after mass reception, people started lining up to be touched by her to be healed. I asked her how did she know it was the HS? She said she went to a friend or relative’s funeral, when there was a sudden gush of wind and she started to get the urge to do what she was doing. I suspected something fishy at once and told my folks to leave right away. First of all, would the HS urge to dance during the Mass, and call attention to herself? I told my folks my suspicion and the possibility it is an evil spirit in her. So they left.

I have asked them for it many times and each and every time i get the same answer, “the only one to find out the answers to your question is to attend a retreat class”.

I have also lost many good friend that are in the BNP because of the simple fact that i questioned/ doubted their beliefs.

I feel deeply concerned for those that are involved in this organization. I have many friends and loved ones active in the BNP. For many of them i know that they entered this movement blindly. You hear from almost every member of the BNP how they didn’t attend church on regular basis or didn’t got to sunday mass, but ever since they have joined this group they attend church every sunday and even during the weekdays if possible. Now looking at this from an outsiders point of view. It doesn’t really seem like many of you knew or even had god in your lives. That is the reason why so many of you are brainwashed into believing that this is a “NEW REVELATION” from god by this EVILE SALVE who claims to be just that.

and also i was wondering if a BNP MEMBER could kindly explain what this is all about?

The sharings are a great tool for us to communicate with each other spiritually, and to continue on with our sharings without actually seeing each other. Let’s not do anything to jeopardize our use of Myspace by respecting the instructions which did not come from Kuya Dennis, but from Mahal Na Ingkong himself. I hope we can all cooperate with this.

As far as things you have already written containing either 'MNI" or “Ate Salve”, it is your own discretion whether you wish to edit or delete any of those entries. But from now on, lets all try our best to do this, for the good of the movement, and the good of the youth ministry.
