Yeah, I kind of got the gist of that when I was asking some SBC friends yesterday and they were like …“there’s… NORTHERN… baptists…”

I wonder if “John the” was a Northern or Southern Baptist. 😉
There are GARBC churches in the south and southwest, Texes and Calif. and Brazil

You’re very welcome!
I don’t really have time for this, either. I’m supposed to be cleaning. 😊
I have a 4 year old and a 18month old sleeping now. My wife went out of town and I can’t get off the website. I’m having fun. I hope no feelings are hurt.

Hard-Shell Baptist believe that missionary work is a farce: everyone is predestined for either salvation or damnation, and to assume that humans have any control over that issue, is the height of mortal folly.
How do they reconcile that belief with Mark 16:15?

Because of this little footnote:
The most reliable early manuscripts and other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20. They can just ignore it since it was a later addition.

But don’t they use the KJV? Aren’t these the same people who say that the KJV uses the only reliable manuscript?

It’s hard telling. Some Baptists do not use the KJV anymore. (KJV-ers would call them “liberals” LOL) I don’t know much about “Hard-Shell” Baptists, and I doubt that’s what is on the sign in front of their church. I always chuckle when a Baptist talks about using the “1611 KJV” because if they ever got their hands on an actual 1611 KJV they’d be surprised to find that it has 73 OT books. 😃

I do know that they teach this about Mark at some Baptist colleges though.

What are the differences between Regular Baptists and Southern Baptists? I know Southern Baptists are not only in the South. There are more Southern Baptist churches here in Cleveland than Regular Baptist churches.

Who are Particular Baptists?
Today there is not much difference in the regular Baptist and southern Baptist. The southern Baptist Conventation was started because of a controversy ove slavery and because of mission needs in the south.
The Southern Baptist Conventation is a support orginization for the local church but has no governing power the same with the GARBC

Thanks. 🙂 That was helpful.

Where does the Bible say that?
😃

I love it when fundamentalists keep giving the “God determined the canon, not the Church” answer. But it’s supposed to be different from what Catholics believe somehow… as if God just shouted it to everybody from the sky or something? Who knows just how exactly they think it really went down… 🤷

I suppose the God could have inspired a hundred or even a thousand different writings and then say to himself "I think that I will just let man chose for himself what will be the canon of my Word. But he didn’t!

Oh ye of little faith !

It does not matter when regular Baptist churches where started
A Regular Baptist Church is the truest image of the first centuary church and teach the purest gospel, no matter what Scott Hahn or Jerry Springer say
So I guess that means that you break bread daily, and not just quarterly?

So, please tell me - of the hundreds of gospels and letters that churches were reading for the first 350 years of Christianity, how is that we have exactly 27 New Testament books? How did that happen if, indeed, it wasn’t at the Councils at the end of the 4th Century?

Do you know what happened to the very first letter Paul wrote to the Corinthians? Why are his 2nd and 3rd letters in the Bible but not the first?

I see you have lots of opinions on how you think God did NOT carry this out, but not a single word on how He actually DID. :o

Scholars are divided on whether the (KJV 1611) Bible suddenly dropped from the sky when Jesus was born, or God just shouted the contents of the Canon really loud from the sky so that everyone could hear it. 😛

Verily, verily, I say unto thee, if the KJV was good enough for Paul, it’s good enough for me.
