I was trying to put my baby to sleep and he just kept staring at the corner of the room whiling laughing and smiling. He’s pretty shy with strangers and only does this if either I or my husband try to make him laugh. My husband thinks it may have been his guardian angel or my great grandmother who passed last year. I just hope it’s not a demon lol so I put holy water everywhere! Babies wouldn’t laugh at demons right? Please tell me it was an angel from Heaven!

Babies laugh at everything and nothing.

Keep in mind that doctors have found that babies most likely have synthetic ability so a dancing light and shadow could be a carnival of experience.

From “the baby is laughing” to "there must be a ghost or angel.
Summary
Like Xanthippe said, babies will laugh at things. I would assume your child is taking all the things they are experiencing new. Maybe they just like the sound of laughter and want to try it out. It would take a lot more than a giggling baby to really start thinking towards the explanations you’re wondering.

This is a bit of a stretch. Babies laugh for no discernible reason all the time. It doesn’t mean he “saw” anything.

Thanks for everyone’s responses. I feel like on a Catholic page I would get less skeptical responses. We know our son best and know he wasn’t laughing at nothing. Something was entertaining him. There were no shadows, nothing. Just a plain wall. But we figured it out. Someone last night had posted on a social media page that basically if you pray to be rich God will grant it to you so I corrected them and they didn’t seem to happy about it. Well last night my husband had a dream he was fighting an evil force who happened to be a woman because she was trying to harm my son and I. This morning I showed him pictures of the girl who I had the discussion with last night and he said nope, wasn’t her. I then showed him a picture of her sister who was next to her mother. He said it’s not the sister but who’s that woman next to her? I showed him a more clear pic of their mom and he said “yup. That was her. That’s who I fought last night”. He has never seen any members of the family before. That doesn’t explain who my son was staring at last night, but it definitely gave us a few clues. My husband gave me his cross that our bishop blessed to place near our son and he is no longer staring at the corner.

I’m confused. Your husband had a dream that someone on Facebook’s mom was trying to hurt you? And that gives you clues about what your son was laughing at?

Really, your baby will do lots more “unexplainable” things that do not have anything to do with the supernatural. It can cause a lot of anxiety seeing issues where there are none.

Yes it does. We are in a spiritual warfare. It was a sign for me to continue my rosary, prayers, and to stay even closer to God 🙂

None? Has he never been over a house, gone through old photos, helped someone move.

What you said here is not enough to say something spiritual occurred.

Your baby laughed. Babies laughing at nothing is totally normal.

I’m not understanding what helping someone move and going through old photos has to do with this, sorry. And my baby didn’t just laugh. For about three hours he made several facial expressions(surprise, worry, happy) and followed something moving from the corner to the other corner. He wouldn’t nurse because he just wanted to stare at the corner. We know our son best

Babies play. Their minds are developing. They are trying on and learning things. They are also remembering conversations that they’ve had. Their brains are plastic and sometimes their senses touch meaning that they can hear color and see sound. They have a very delicate sleep/awake state where they actually may be vividly dreaming and appear awake (especially if he was ignoring you). This is very easily and very basically explained by neurology. There was nothing special going on.

You said your husband had never seen the face before in the dream. He most likely had, if even in passing.

No it’s a random account that I recently started following on instagram. I fully believe it was something spiritual and a sign from God to keep up with my prayers but thank you for taking the time to respond

It’s great that you are praying more, but you really should talk to a spiritual authority if you’re going to ascribe spiritual weight to occurrences. At the very least you should have your house blessed, and if it is so already, then you should not be jumping to illogical conclusions when there are perfectly logical explinations medically and scientifically.

You also have another thread in which you ascribe waking at 3am to demonic activity, and ask for “no scientific” explanations:

Waking up at 3am every night? Spirituality
I know that demons like to mock Jesus and since 3pm is a holy hour, they are most powerful at 3am. Well although I am still a sinner like us all, I try my best to avoid sin, go to confession once a month, go to mass every Sunday, pray the rosary daily and feel very close to Jesus. Why do you think I wake up at 3am almost every night? I have a newborn who sleeps in bed with me. I put a rosary and miraculous metal underneath him when he sleeps too. Please no scientific answers.
I recommend talking to your priest. It isn’t good to worry that everything you cannot explain is caused by evil.

Please tell me that the rosary and metal are NOT directly under the baby but under the crib or sidecar. Regardless of the age even a newborn can pull things into their mouthes. My first ripped my glasses off of my face and almost skewered herself seconds after she was born.

That’s a great idea. I will look into getting my house blessed thanks for the reminder!

Wow you really jumped to conclusions there. That post was months ago from now and the only other occasion that I suspected demonic activity. I’m sorry but spiritual warfare is very real and I’m not turning a blind eye to it. It doesnt feel like I’m in a Catholic thread here at all.
What conclusions did I jump to?

Waking up at 3am and babies laughing are not in any way indicative of demonic activity. It just seems from these two posts that you are unnecessarily concerned about things you don’t need to worry about. Of course most of us here believe in spiritual warfare, but these two instances have nothing to do with spirituality.

If you read through the 3am thread I had perfect reasoning to suspect demonic activity. Others had agreed with me as well.

Please if you’re here to derail the topic I suggest you just go somewhere else because you cannot convince me that my baby was laughing at nothing. There are times he laughs on his own but this was different. Next time I’ll just ask a priest because people on this board are quick to make assumptions and brush off spiritual warfare. We know him best.
