Vadne, check out this video. Also keep Canon 1373 in mind.Again, all Catholics have every right to criticize clergy. And Father Martin has more than invited that criticism by his comments on homosexuality.

If you think that is the case, then we simply live in different universes. Oh well. There is nothing stated in that section that cannot be stated by a holy priest.![]()
There’s only one Catholic universe, so to speak, so really we shouldn’t be reading his comments as differently as we seem to be…gracepoole:![]()

In a nutshell, he says that he does not wish to discuss chastity.I can’t play video right now. In a nutshell what is it he says?
Hey, I eat with homosexuals all the time. I don’t encourage them to pursue “marital” relationships. Your argument is invalid. And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
Matthew 9:11
I jest when pointing out that there is one Catholic Church? Not at all. It’s “bizarro” that you think that’s a joke.gracepoole:![]()
Surely you jest? There is one universe that sees the Christian life as pursuing holiness by embracing one’s cross in imitation of Jesus, and honestly admitting it when falling short of that ideal. There is another bizarro universe, where Matthew 10:34-39 is whited out of the bible, and the chief objective is to relentlessly pursue whatever impulses one has, and scream “Hatred!” whenever those impulses are challenged. There’s only one Catholic universe, so to speak, so really we shouldn’t be reading his comments as differently as we seem to be…
Seriously, check out Martin’s tweets from today. He has no shame whatsoever. But I suppose that is the point. Where there is no shame, there is no need to admit any wrongdoing.
A holy priest would not dismiss the notion of chastity as if it is negligible. You haven’t explained why you think that in the section of the interview you noted, you think no holy priest would make such comments. Do tell.
It’s a good thing, then, that Fr. Martin didn’t do this in the segment to which you pointed.gracepoole:![]()

He certainly did. Again, we’re apparently living in different universes. It’s a good thing, then, that Fr. Martin didn’t do this in the segment to which you pointed.
Exactly. In the words of someone far more eloquent than I, there is no need to build a bridge. We already have a perfectly good bridge: it’s called the confessional.Well, Fr. Martin’s method of preaching the Gospel is, without a doubt, quite divergent from the way Saint Paul went about converting those he encountered on his missionary travels. Paul was always ready to call a spade a spade. “Bridge building” may not be a metaphor that is particularly consonant with bringing the Gospel in all its fullness and requisite demands to all nations. That’s my impression, anyways.
You keep saying this without supporting it, though. ??gracepoole:![]()

Yes, He most certainly would. He would not be helping them plan their weddings, however.Every day I think about how if Jesus came back today he’d totally be eating dinner with all the gay people.
I’m not sure what he would say to them exactly, but I know he’d definitely be hanging out with them.
How charitable.gracepoole:![]()
I supported it with video footage of the words coming directly out of his mouth. I can think of no better support. Your inability (or more likely, refusal) to comprehend is something I can do nothing about, so it’s time to bid you adieu. Enjoy your confusion.1neophyte:![]()
