If you’re speaking about filmmaking craft and not simply content, then I would argue The Last Temptation of Christ is a far superior film.
Thanks for the correction. I haven’t seen it since it was released at the theatres. I don’t remember much about of - just that it was forgettable!

I have to throw in one which I happened upon during a night of insomnia. One of those cringe-worthy bad films that’s so awful that I laughed hysterically through the film at how bad the plot, dialogue, acting and campy dance sequences were; the only reason I kept watching was because I was laughing so hard. Ladies and Gentlemen:

Can’t Stop the Music

Movie musical from the end of the disco era (when it was dead already) starring Steve Gutenberg, Bruce Jenner and the Village People (yes THE Village People). Of course they couldn’t blatantly come out with the homosexual undertones around the formation of the disco group so they made up for it in very corny dialogue and laughably bad double-entendres. Not to mention the director’s claim to fame was playing Rosie in the old Bounty paper towel commercials…

I have to admit - I have not seen this one. I didn’t know Bruce Jenner had ever acted! In a movie I mean. Poor Steve Gutenberg!

As mentioned on the other thread, I disagree. One of my favorite movies from last year.
I read some reviews of the movie and it was praised up and down and left and right and sideways. I thought it was boring and stupid. I know it was based on a book. It was just nothing to me. I am not a fan of Amy Adams. I like the other actor, but his talents were wasted in this movie. I don’t understand how anyone thought it should be up for best picture.

The Passion of the Christ is not an easy movie to watch that is for sure, but I do think
it was a well made movie.
I liked the film, though hard to watch and theologically problematic, in parts.

Yuk. Hated that film.
The Godfather, Part 3. :dts: Nope.

It doesn’t count. It’s terrible. There is no Part 3. :tsktsk:
Any gangsta movie, from Reservoir Dogs to The Godfather, where the narrative goes into the lives of the mobsters, is terrible. The Untouchables, however, is a different story -
the right side, of the line-of-perspective.

Whenever this topic comes up, I always mention “The Million Dollar Hotel”. My friend and I saw the video at the library or video store and said, “Hey, it has Mel Gibson in it. It has to be good.” No. No, it doesn’t. 😦

We watched the whole thing only because we thought that, surely, any minute now, something will change so that the movie will suddenly be good or at least make sense. But that point never came.

I stopped on a film once because it had Naomi Watts in it. That was a mistake. It was truly awful and very disturbing. The movie was Funny Games. Violent, awful, terrible, disturbing, horrible, frightening stuff.

Wayyy back, when I was in the Navy, and movies were still on 35mm reels, we got one called ‘Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared Synn’ we watched the three reels out of order - and no-one noticed the difference! Baaaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddd!

I know I will get some dissent, but I am not a fan of Brave, an animated film. I found it to be very odd. I will admit that perhaps I need to give it another viewing.

I think Brother Bear falls into the same category. My kids liked it. I thought it was strange.

Another strange one that my children enjoyed back in the day: Meet the Robinsons

Perhaps I need to watch it again, though, because I think my kids would still say they like it even though they are grown now.
