You can’t blame the belief system for the actions of those who break its rules.
Now, I’m fairly certain that the doctrine held to by Baptist frowns on “smil[ing] in your face while stabbing you in the back.”
So…it’s not the doctrine, it’s the people who don’t live up to it. Of course, when EVERYBODY acts in a way contrary to the doctrine they profess, that’s called systemic hypocrisy, which is quite a different problem.
As for me, other than their doctrine (which I disagree with, being a Mormon and all…) the only thing I have a problem with in regards to the Baptists is their obsession with all things Mormon.
…and their willingness to publish officially sanctioned publications that diseminate deliberate misinformation about who Mormons are and what they actually believe. However, this is something they share with many other belief systems, including Catholics, so…oh well.
