Why is it called a Christian thread as opposed to a protestant board? That doesn’t make sense to me. A christian board implies that you are open to all people who call themselves Christian, including Catholics. If your goal is to support only Protestant beliefs then you should call yourself something else.
Hi deb! 👋

The Baptists at that site don’t believe that Catholics are Christians.

Catholics can no longer post at that site at all.

In Christ,
Nancy 🙂

I think most of them on that site are well-meaning but completely unaware of the history of Christianity. Take for instance the man who did not know that Christmas is a Catholic feast day with the date set by the Church. He thought FDR moved the date for Christmas from Jan. to Dec. for tax reasons. They were unaware of the history of the Bible, the existence of the testimony of the early Church Fathers and the origin of the Baptist faiths as John Smyth. That is not their fault. They have never been exposed to those ideas.

The one person who is not innocent in all of this is the moderator Bill Jackson. His entire ministry is dedicated to evangelizing Catholics. He showed me during my time on that forum that he is well aware that he is using deception to lure Catholics into Evangelicalism. When he would post something about “mariolatry” for instance and he would be corrected about the true teaching of the Church on the Blessed Virgin Mary, he would just go about posting about mariolatry on another thread as if he never received a correction.

By the way, Catholic4aReason, nice work over there getting the truth out! 👍

Did you receive this e-mail? Here are some excerpts:

“During the 10 year history of this site, Satan, his disciples and his deceived, has attacked the progress of this online ministry by bringing waves of those who are Homosexuals, Muslims, Pentecostals, Catholics, and Church of Christ “naysayers” and combatants. We have weathered them all. Psalms 34”

“Well, after wolves in sheep’s clothing, and unfortunately a few goats in wolves clothing have abused this open forum, excessively, The Day Has Come to Close Our Boarders to Illegal Aliens! We will begin profiling!
We have a responsibility to answer all men “to the hope that lieth within us” bring the Gospel messages to people who are sincerely wrong. Also, there are people who might not always post a reply, but who do read the messages. It has been my conviction that the truth of what is presented could be weighed upon the side of right! I have underestimated the enemy. I did not think false doctrine could outweigh the Truth that is taught here. It did and this situation changes now!
Baptists (Christians in Baptist Churches), who are identified and approved, will be eligible to post. Others, who are identified and approved, may submit postings which are honest and inquiring. No more haranguing our positions.
All thoughtful threads are allowed, not just those who agree with us. Non-Baptists can reply in any forum. Any message that encourages heretical doctrines of WATER BAPTISMAL REGENERATION espoused by Catholicism, Most of Protestantism, Cambellism, Russelism (JW), Mormonism, Pentecostalism, will be identified as FALSE DOCTRINE or be deleted. This rule is retro-active to all messages now posted. Please give us time to scrutinize each posting as to its value here at Baptist.org.
Catholics may only start a thread on the Catholic Discussion Forum, and, initially (as is plainly stated on the Home Page) only to ask questions and to make intelligent rebuttals. (How is that any different from what we were doing over there before?) Excessively long or hyperlinked texts will be deleted.” (Ha! That one is for me! They didn’t like my using outside sources with links to support my statements. Bill inferred that I’m not intelligent, I’ve just learned how to cut and paste! 😃 )

By the way, I saw on their website that it says Bill Jackson made it apparent to them how important it was to create a Catholic forum. I’m not surprised that it was his idea. He was like a computer over there posting responses at all hours of the day and night usually within minutes of my posting. Did anyone else think the same thing?

They may think they have “weathered” all the types of people they believe Satan has sent to their forum, but the fact that they are going to limit posting to those “identified and approved”, proves that they have lost the battle, and the war.

The longer that I am on this forum the more I appreciate it. We welcome all religions and denominations;Buddhists, Wiccans, Atheists, and yes, even Baptists. WHenever I am debating another, I try to remember that I might not convince that individual but there are millions of others viewing the internet threads who might be convinced of the truth.

It doesn’t seem that this other Christian forum is interested in doing anything but preaching to already like minded individuals. How sad.

I read the quotes that you posted. I didn’t know that Baptists considered Catholics a cult. What is that based on? It would never cross my mind to call members of Baptist churches cult members. 😦
Actually, you could argue that Baptists are a cult much like Jehovah’s Witnesses. Granted, they are officially trinitarian but I know almost as many baptists who in their personal beliefs are not trinitarian as I do baptists who are trinitarian. The Baptist movement is a fringe movement within Christianity and the more I am away from my upbringing the more I thank God for delivering me from such nonsense. Unfortunately, baptist nonsense is the majority religion in this country.

In other words, they are Edited adhominen. That is the other aspect of this. We are dealing with a sect that is fundamentally appealing to Edited further ad hominem.

The only thing I can say is that about a week into my posting there, a Baptist forum member (who was really nice and meant well) told me that they didn’t want to read too much. That is the first time that I have ever encountered anyone on a religious forum who objected to my posting links for further reading.

Very good point!

I would just like everybody who posted in thread to know that, if nothing else, you gave me an excellent teaching opportunity with my teenage daughter.

She was looking over my shoulder while I was reading the thread and asked about it. Her question was, “Why won’t they (baptist.org) even listen to questions?”

My response was, “Well, that should tell you a lot. Catholicism is the Truth. The Truth can stand up to any questioning. You can ask any question you want about the Catholic Church. Just be sure that when you ask, you research all the answers.”

She left the room with a big smile on her face.

Just thought you’d like to know that you helped plant a seed and make her stronger in her faith. And for that, thank you!

👍 Who knows in what other ways the recent events at baptist.org will touch someone.

Kay Cee: That’s a beautiful story. Thanks for sharing it. It shows one of my favorite things about Catholicism, and how I eventually became Catholic: the Church never, ever turns away an honest question, and usually asks them before the doubter can even think of them.

Satan’s greatest trick isn’t getting people to believe he doesn’t exist, but to get people to believe that they’re Christians when they’re not.

Oh, sure, someone will jump on me about that, and that’s fine. Since I’m feeling an extra degree ecumenical, I’ll say that Satan’s greatest trick is fooling people into believing they have the fullness of the truth when they’ve merely got a thimbul full.

For three years I attended an extremly fundamentalist Independent Baptist Church. The pastor, a very sweet man, would come to our house once a week to discuss bible issues with us. One day we were discussing my oldest son’s desire to be a director and the fact that he would like to attend an art college in Wilmington, NC.-not sure of the name. The pastor strongly-and I mean strongly- pressured us to only send our children to a Christian College in northern FLorida. His concern was that young people would be exposed to ideas that made them question their faith. This attitude bothered me because challanges to my faith have made me a better Christian. Maybe this hiding away from diverse opinions is common among some sects of Baptists. Perhaps that is what you are all coming up against in the particular forum.

I read through the rules and I didn’t see anything about no Catholics. I just registered, but I’m going to just visit occasionally on some topics.

I hope that the nice Baptists with whom many of us from CA dialogued will realize why the forums were shut-down - too much truth about the Catholic faith.
Maybe the nice Baptists will come here so they can learn more about what the Catholic Church really teaches.

Too bad history shows otherwise. It reminds me of my tract that I found on my windshield.

So much for Evangelizing Catholics. It seems that it was more like Evangelizing Baptists; maybe we should start a subforum just for that? :bounce: Nah, that would be just asking for trouble.

Again, I remind everyone to maintain the very highest level of charity in all posts on this thread lest I be forced to close and pull it.

Regardless of any other forum’s policies or practices there is no excuse for returning hurt for hurt as this is NOT Christ’s way.

FYI - I haven’t really seen anything anti-Catholic yet. If anything it is somewhat mild. They have a bunch of precautions in place to keep it low key, including no debate threads (?).

They also have some interesting bells and whistles that are worth looking into. Best of all, all I had to do was click my mose three times and say, “There’s no place like home, There’s no place like home, There’s no place like home,” and I and back here.

Sorry. You’re too late to read the anti-Catholic things. They’ve completely deleted the forum entitled “Catholicism”.
