Me too.and what’s happening in my country is there is a huge division amongst people, except the lines are getting so muddied that there are good people on both sides. Catholicism shouldn’t be a place where we can come to see what right wings are thinking, or left wings are thinking, if you think something is wrong then say it…don’t say “…why am I not surprised?” or making it seem like Obama is the devil, he is not. He politically supports some very disturbing things, and that is no lie, but I can see that he is a decent man.
I am curious. How do you define decent?
When we lose our ability to discern who and who is not a decent man we are losing our basic gift given to us by God. I think just because Romney says that abortion is wrong and he won’t support it and so us as Catholics say “ok ok! Your our guy!” is wrong. I think automatically assuming that this website is a place where you can say “why am I not surprised…?” is wrong. This religion is filled with thinkers, fighters, sinners, and democrats. Sorry to tell you…well actually I dont know if this is the opposite of what your saying. Just saying.
How does Catholic moral theology tradition figure into your position?

Catholic is NOT a left wing religion.
We agree brother:D

You get what I’m saying with this one. So if I posted something on THIS site that made it seem like he was a king…you’d be pretty angry.

Paz y Amor hermano.

Well, do decent people support abortion and homosexual acts as good? What does one have to support to be less than decent? Why is decent the standard?
Nah I don’t support homosexual acts, about the same that I don’t support making people feel subhuman (I like Catholicism teachings because they don’t do that)…I think it’s very simple, if you want to be less than decent, support less than decent or mean hearted stuff. And decent is the standard because brother, sometimes that’s all we got.

Here are Bush’s bipartisan achievements:

keithhennessey.com/2010/02/23/bipartisan-successes/
As the RNC pointed out, Obama’s mos decisive bipartisan vote was 0 Congressional votes for his budget.

I don’t think you can compare the abilities of the two men in reaching across the aisle.
Yes, a surprisingly short list for 8 years of work, perhaps the shortest of any modern two term president, and certainly embarrassing to Mr. Bush. Obama’s is twice as long. Yet both are viewed as incompetent.

Politics must be kept in the Catholic Church if not Bishops, priests and lay people can just sit back when a whole cesspool of sin and immorality comes flooding in to the world.
ALL must submit themselves to the rule of Christ the king even nations. This means that in public and polictial life ,the teachings of Christ(which are the offical teachings of the Catholic Church) must be obeyed. If not Christ is disobeyed. That is why you cannot say we need to seperate religion from politics, that is like seprateing God from morality.
👍

…This exact point was made by 1 of our many parish priest this past weekend in the homily. I worry many “Catholics” out there seem to be lost these days. It seems they are being “hypnotized” to believe in progressive liberalism. I can not see how any Catholic could vote for Obama again or for the first time based on his record. I am not anyone’s judge but those ‘Catholics’ may get some hard questions to answer on the other side…

does anyone know if they will have the politics forum again before the november election?
i enjoyed it before the 2008 election. it seems now that most threads dealing with the president are closed.

It’s in my gut:)and I know decent when I see it.
Obama worked against, spoke against, and voted against the Baby Born Alive Act when he was an Illinois senator. This act was based on the Federal Act, *which even NARAL accepted. *It was an act to say that doctors should care for babies who survived abortions, even if just making them comfortable until they died because of being too young to survive outside the womb.

So, Obama thought it was preferable to just toss a living baby into a closet to die alone if the mother had arranged for an abortion.

So, Obama was *more *pro-abortion than the National Abortion Rights Action League.

This is the man whom you call decent???

Oh, Obama’s is twice as long? Can you list Obama’s?

Like I said it’s a gut thing, if you think Obama is CAUSING those babies to die, you are mistaken…as Catholics we should be fighting aginst the one CAUSING these things.

Well, *my *gut turns over in revolt that anyone could do what he did. *My *gut tells me this is *not *a decent man who could do this.

So, whose gut is right? Maybe going by one’s gut isn’t the answer! Maybe using one’s *head *would work a little better.

Now, I admit that Obama is very nice to his wife and his daughters. But he would kill his grandchild, and if his grandchild survived the first attempt, Obama would ensure that he or she would die anyway.

Now, is Obama the doctor who is actually inserting the instruments to cause the baby’s death? No. But is he *facilitating *the cold death of a baby who survives that procedure? *Yes. *He *fought against *passage of an act that would require dying babies to be given some comfort, a blanket, maybe some painkiller if needed. He *fought against *passage of an act that would have required care and treatment for a baby who was old enough to survive on his or her own.

This has no business here. Your dividing people.

Catholic is NOT a right wing religion.

Por favor.

Paz
So, Catholicism is a left-wing religion?

Seriously, rather than complaining about somebody exercising his/her presidential judgment, why don’t you demonstrate, using Magisterial documents, why what the OP states is contest to Catholic teaching?

As an example, the article states,

President Barack Obama’s campaign wants to turn Mitt Romney into the candidate of old, straight, white men.

Of course, his aides would never state it so crudely. But that’s the unmistakable aim of their political strategy of the past two months

Since you disagree with the comment made on this article, do you believe that practicing identity politics is ok, per Catholic teaching? Do you think it’s OK to put group against group, as a matter of political strategy? Again, per Catholic teaching?

Our is it more wrong that the original poster pot up an article, from a left wing news source, by the way, that discusses the political strategy of “divide and conquer”?Should Catholics just ignore it? Keep our heads in the sand and pretend that all is good in the world of American politics?

(by the way, as anybody who has posted here for any amount of time could tell you, I’m no Romney apologist…he’s way too much of a leftist for my taste…just for the record)

Good post. My gut and my head tells me that Mr Obama is the most pro-death president this country has ever seen. I can’t see where anyone with a conscience would be able to vote for him.

Who is making any person “feel” subhuman?
I think it’s very simple, if you want to be less than decent, support less than decent or mean hearted stuff. And decent is the standard because brother, sometimes that’s all we got.
I do not understand? Being decent should mean not supporting seriously evil things. How much evil may we support and still think we are “decent”?

Like I said it’s a gut thing, if you think Obama is CAUSING those babies to die, you are mistaken…as Catholics we should be fighting aginst the one CAUSING these things.
So there are no consequences when Obama rescinds the Mexico City policy and funds start flowing to overseas abortion providers? No consequences when he requires employers pay for abortificants for their employees? No consequences when he appoints pro-abortion judges to the federal Courts?

I have yet to find a single member of the magestrium who has stated there are proportionate reasons that would allow a catholic to vote for Obama.

Perhaps you should take to heart the words of Cardinal Burke:

No, you can never vote for someone who favors absolutely what’s called the ‘right to choice’ of a woman to destroy human life in her womb, or the right to a procured abortion," he said.

Catholicism is not a left.or right wing religion…it is the church of Jesus Christ. I don’t think it’s all good in American politics…I wouldn’t say that…what I am saying is that all of this division within the church is evil and it’s splitting it in two. I’m notnsaying I’m a democrat. I’m saying to stop calling democrats evil…they are not. Obama doesn’t cause abortions, fear, lack of faith, ignorance and evil do. Those things live on both side of the political parties…stop being so angry and go back to what makes us Catholics:charity, love compassion, servitude to god. That is what I’m promoting…that is literally all I’m promoting.

Obama doesn’t cause abortions.

He doesn’t CAUSE them…look at what CAUSES them and let’s attack that…catholic church should not be confined or shuffled into any political servitude. It is bigger than that. We are bigger than that. Then this. Please hear what I’m saying…

Using ones head too much is what makes people turn atheistic because they want to only believe what they see…look beyond what you see…let the holy spirit guide you in your decisions…don’t let fear take the wheel of your.mind and reject me. I too am a catholic…I too take the body and blood. Have no malice towards me.we are brothers. Jesus wouldn’t want anything to do with either party. Because we follow the laws of God not man. I don’t care what laws are passed I follow my gut, heart, brain, and spirit, these are the gifts of God…not America.
