I am a Giants fan and a Cubs fan, you have to be a true sports fan to stick by the Cubs year after year.

I become very disappointed with the local dallies treatment of baseball, they only print the box scores and rankings once in a while, while nothing can happen in the schools without it making print. Everyone here is high school football crazy and I graduated from the school Friday Night Lights is based on .
You must be from Texas, where HS Football is the One True Religion (according to some)!

Heaven help anyone who misses Friday Night Services. 😛

I moved from OdessaTex, and graduated from Permian high school which won state football championship several years in a row.

The Buzz Bissinger novel and the film Friday Night lights are based on my old high school.

They spend more on bandages for the football team than on the entire English department. There are no significant churches, but the city spent millions on a catherdral to football which draws more worshipper Friday night than all the churches combined sunday morning.

Though we’ve lived in the Washington, DC metropolitan area for 20 years, I’m a lifelong Indians fan. I have two daughters: one graduated from the University of Alabama in 2010 and the other graduates from The Ohio State University in May. The oldest daughter is a big baseball fan (Orioles and Nationals) and the youngest loves hockey (Capitals). Both enjoy attending games with Daddy whenever the opportunity arises! Other than the Tribe, I follow the Orioles and the Nats. I guess that comes from living here so long.

I still remember the days of Luis Tiant, Sam McDowell, Vic Davalillo, Rocky Colavito, and other great Indians players. I like the Tribe’s lineup this year. Our rotation is average, at best, but we picked up some good bats with guys like Nick Swisher (former Buckeye) and Michael Bourn. Go Tribe!

Note: The Buckeyes are still in the hunt in the NCAA basketball tournament with last night’s victory over Arizona. Now if Urban Meyer can keep the momentum going this Fall…
Yeah I am excited for the season. I like the moves they made, but think they may be one more year away from making a real run. Id like to see a World series championship in my lifetime… 1 out away in 97 was painful, and how they fell apart against Boston in 2007…

Yeah, some of my earliest memories are a little later than yours…joe carter, corey snyder, tom candioti, pat tabler, julio franco… in the old bleachers of municipal stadium…

Yeah, watching the bucks game now… in a transplant in Columbus now from Cleveland…

Go Bucks and Roll Tribe

Happy Opening Day!!! Here are my pick’s.

AL:

East: Toronto
Central: Detroit
West: Angels

NL:

East: Washington

AL Wildcards:

BLUE JAYS! BLUE JAYS!! BLUE JAYS!!!

I was working outside of a bar selling hotdogs that night; I stepped in for a moment to check the score of the game and watched Joe Carter slam Mitch Williams’ pitch over the left field wall. It was the only pitch I saw in the whole game, and it was beautiful. I want to see that kind of moment again, and this looks like the year that we finally have a shot. The Yankees are paying a gazillion dollars to an aging and injury-prone roster, the Red Sox have fallen apart, the Orioles were a fluke, and the Rays are the only team standing between my beloved Blue Jays and a division title.

You can tell it’s baseball season when people start complaining about the MLB blackout policy.

DirecTV is my provider and I have Cubs, White Sox, Cardnails, and Royals telecasts available at my finger tips and if I wanted the sports pack, it would also give me the Twins and Brewers as well.

Thing of it is, NBA and NHL have the same blackout policies regarding local telecasts as well.

MLB fans these days are spoiled. Many of the options we have now for watching games didn’t exist when I first started following the Tigers in the '80s.

I’m content with listening to Tigers games on SiriusXM, and catching a game on FOX when they’re on there.

It’s that way with all sports. I definately remember the old Saturday Afternoon Game of the Week on NBC back in the 80’s, it was the only game on TV during the week.

As big of a Royals fan that I am, i’ve only been to one Royals game in my life. I’d rather watch the games on a nice HDTV and not have to worry about traffic, standing in line to make the bladder gladder, weather (especially this time of year) and were the food and booze is a heckuva lot cheaper.

There was almost a perfect game in baseball yesterday. I was watching NIT basketball but ESPN kept us posted. The pitcher went 8 2/3 innings without a hit.

Not hard to do when going against the Astros 😛 I suspect alot of pitchers are going to be flirting with no no’s against Houston this year.

BTW, that’s gotta suck losing a perfect game with one out remaining in the game.

I am a Baltimore Oriole fan who hopes that this season proves that last year’s playoff run was not a fluke. Go Birds!

This isn’t the start to the season this Royals fan was expecting 😦

Gotta love the wonderful pipes of Vin Scully doing a Dodgers game  It’s Friday night after 11pm and i’m watching baseball…life has returned to normal!

Go Yankees! We will see something more rare than a two headded calf. We will witness how the Yankees wear the underdog banner! I hope that they ironically win the division and WS on a year where everyone counts them out!

We (twins) are playing bseball in freezing weather up here and losing. Sigh. I can’t wait until spring.

grrr…KC should’ve swept the Braves, but i’ll take a split against the hottest team in MLB.

It’s hard being a fan when your baseball team is the Seattle Mariners. The “new and improved” Mariners look even worse than last year. Grrrrr
