Thank you.The United Church of Christ which is a mainstream Protestant Denomination
âŚwe recognize our calling both as individuals and as the church to live in the world:
To proclaim in word and action the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
To work for reconciliation and the unity of the broken Body of Christ.
To seek justice and liberation for all.
This is the challenge of the United Church of Christ.
I completely disagree. PR was being quite charitable and offered solid advice (though now retracted). I often read other postersâ comments twice (sometimes more) before responding. This is especially true if I find a post offensive. This would have been an excellent response if you had stopped here.
This whole section reads like youâre being a bully. See 1 Cor. 13.
Awww, thanks, friend! :flowers:I completely disagree. PR was being quite charitable and offered solid advice (though now retracted). I often read other postersâ comments twice (sometimes more) before responding. This is especially true if I find a post offensive.
I know absolutely zilch about the UCCâs doctrines, except that they are one of the tens of thousands of Christian denominations which have broken off from the CC, given the mantra, âAuthority? We donât need no stinkinâ authority! We get to believe what we want to believe!âThatâs the problem â they co-opt certain truths and then pretend to preach the gospel. They are just like the WBC, except on the other end of the spectrum.
PR could not have known if frobert had read it once or 500 times. Moreover, thatâs not the part of the post that I felt was inappropriate. So I recommend you go back and read PRâs post again.I completely disagree. PR was being quite charitable and offered solid advice (though now retracted). But you didnât say which part you felt was inappropriate. You said this entire paragraph gave you the impression that PR was a bully:PR could not have known if frobert had read it once or 500 times. Moreover, thatâs not the part of the post that I felt was inappropriate. So I recommend you go back and read PRâs post again.![]()
I know you have mentioned you have dyslexia, and thatâs certainly not a hindrance in posting hereâŚ
but I suggest that if you are going be offended at something, which you may have misread, then itâs probably better to read things twice before responding.
I think if youâre going to call someone out for being a bully, at least be constructive. In any event, the point PR was trying to make was âbe prudent and read carefully if you are offendedâ not âread exactly two times and then respond.â I think her advice was solid. Here, I remind you how you misread my âinspired authorâ reference as thinking I was referring to another poster as being inspired, when I actually cited the reference as being St. Peter.
Your posts have been a tribute to yourself and your growth.Duly noted.![]()
While the ignition system and the fuel system may share a physical location, they are two different systems. So no need to be confused; nuns and priests urinate with their urinary systemsWell, no. Priests, nuns and monks are not using their reproductive systems
for other purposes. They are merely not using them, fully aware of the ordered reproductive purposes for which they are intended.
DrTaffy;12079284:
Amazing. How do they manage urination? Is a catheter fitted immediately upon taking vows?![]()
The âproductionâ of children would require the reproductive system of two people of the opposite sex.many same sex couples do end up producing children.
Neither the UCC nor myself are spreading innuendo, misinformation or ad homian attacks about you. BTW you might want to check your references before you attempt to connect UCC to porn by way of the Free Speech Coalition. The UCC doesnât support civil liberties? I thought that was their schtick? And what does âprayer warriorâ have to do with this? And what about the fact that I find the UCC offensive? They are a tool used by Satan.
Gary, Let me summarize, I made a mistake in judgement, I apologized, PR responded, Prodigal_Son perceived something was amiss. I agree with you that it is time to lower the rhetoric, move on and make the this thread informative and revealing. I for one have received insights into my own concept of my the way I worship as to well as that of others.PRs integrity is now the topic of the thread?
Iâm sorry but I donât think so. The thread is informative and revealing, lets not turn it into something other than this.
I know this will hurt feelings also, so I apologize in advance.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11Frobert,
First, the Catholic belief is to love the sinner and hate the sin. At no time do we hate the sinner. Just the opposite, we are to love one another. And one way that we do this is to proclaim the truth of the gospel. Truth that includes the fact that we all sin - and in doing so we all have crosses to carry. Truth that includes the fact that we are all called to turn away from sin and towards the life of Holiness. To your point above, we are to follow Christâs teachings. The verses below are Christâs teachings. Christ clearly teaches that we are not to follow a life of sexual immorality. This includes the practice of homosexuality.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, **nor men who practice homosexuality, **nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Romans 1:26-28
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done.
Leviticus 20:13
If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
1 Timothy 1:10
The sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine,
1 Corinthians 7:2
But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.
1 Timothy 1:10-11
The sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.
Mark 10:6-9
But from the beginning of creation, âGod made them male and female.â âTherefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.â So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.â
Jude 1:7
Just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire.
Romans 1:27
And the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
At the end of the day, we all are called to follow Christâs teachings and conform our lives to his teachings. One of the great things about Catholicism is that we have the sacraments. The means of grace which Christ has given us to follow him. Grace gives us strength to follow him no matter what cross each of us carry.

Being married isnât about solving sexual immorality, it is about creating, nurturing and promoting new human beings.1 Corinthians 6:9-11
It doesnât say nor men who practice homosexuality,in my bible, it says sodomites. Sodomy can be practised by both male/female as I understand it.
When I read the bible concerning sexual immortality I imagine the concern is for people over come by lust, participating in orgies from those days. Now we have online pornograthy and Iâm sure there are places for people to engage in orgies.
That said, not every ssa couple act on sodomy, Iâve heard as much.
Also St Paul saying every man should have a wife and a wife a husband is all great and all, but we all know that being married doesnât always solve sexual immortality.
To be fair, âsimpleasâ is referring to âsexual immortality.â And Iâm interested in hearing more about thatâŚBeing married isnât about solving sexual immorality, it is about creating, nurturing and promoting new human beings.
The fact that there are some, or even many, human beings who are oblivious to or opposed to doing so does not mean everyone ought to lose sight of that reality.
Me too. Itâs sounds like a song, âCome on with me, baby / Iâll make you a sexual immortal.âTo be fair, âsimpleasâ is referring to âsexual immortality.â And Iâm interested in hearing more about thatâŚ
I donât know why anyone would want to be a sexual immortal. Sex for sexâs sake besides being boring is addictive, so you end up having a boring addiction.Me too. Itâs sounds like a song, âCome on with me, baby / Iâll make you a sexual immortal.â
