The Catholic Church has members of every race and nationality under the sun. Its teaching on social justice is the only way to guarantee a restoration of authentic Christian values.

Why waste time on an intra-Protestant squabble over race? People like Beck and Sharpton should be looking to us, not the other way around.

AMEN.

What I saw on Saturday were all faiths agreeing on the basic’s… that we need to put God first and all else will be OK.
It was beautiful. God was there.

The Catholic Church gives us assurance as to where salvatin lies and what we can avow as true with confidence. Truth is no exclusive to the Catholic church though. God’s spirit is present in th eworld today, and touches many who are not formal members of our Church. Liewise many other formal Catholics remain essentially spirit-freesupporters of abortion and other forms of hatred.
the goal of America was not to become a nation under Catholicism, but a nation under God where Catholics are free to worship alongside with everybody else. The left seeks to destroy this fundamental America principle and deny America’s essentially Christian character and Judeo-Christian foundation. Beck seeks to revive just that. His efforts are worthy of our Catholic support.

So, I missed out on a free bus ride to Washington, huh?
Now you tell me!
I would have loved to go.
😃
Now, Now…free stuff ain’t to be accepted by that crowd…You could get called lazy. or a freeloader or something…unless of course you are a CEO, a banker, or a warmongerer… Then you can take as much as you want.

I don’t think he wants to do anything but revive his bank account, which doesnt need reviving most probably:

*Which begs the bottom line: What was “Restoring Honor” really all about? Is the punditocracy trying to hard to read the tea leaves of Beck’s “agenda,” of why he went with televangelist-style fervor about God and empty tributes to the MLK legacy before an audience that had been instead lured to D.C. from the so-called heartland by its red-meat displeasure with Barack Obama?

You bet they are. At the end of the day, the ultimate goal of “Restoring Honor” – like just about everything that Beck has done in the last decade, from riding the rubble of 9/11 and the Iraq war buildup to change his persona from “Morning Zoo” guy to patriot to saying outlandish things about FEMA camps or Obama’s “deep-seated hatred for white people” in his early attention-seeking months on Fox – goes back to one thing, always the most important thing in the Beck universe.

Building the Glenn Beck brand.

Yes sir, Saturday was all about restoring honor and restoring God in American life.

But now it’s Monday and Glenn Beck has something he wants to sell you.

UPDATE: The site – which is already live – is already running ads for Goldline International.

Media matters are leftist NUTS.

Obviously you are another person on the left who didnt watch.

Media matters are leftist NUTS.
I’m not going to attempt to characterize those that work for Media Matters, but they do not have a reputation for truthfullness. Hence, I do not consider Media Matters a viable source of information.

You are too kind.

I will characterize them. Leftist NUTS who do hit piece’s on anyone they disagree with. 🙂

No, but in matters of faith and morals, which includes social justice, the Church has the fullness of truth. Others outside the Church may possess it to varying lesser degrees.

A few days ago, I posted my thoughts on the parallels between Glenn Beck’s revivalism and the Third Great Spiritual Awakening in America.

**Today, Glenn Beck announced on his radio show that we are in “The Third Great Awakening in America”. ** He said specifically the first Awakening was the Revolutionary War and the second, the Civil War. The Third Awakening begins with his speech on the Mall.

He later said it wasn’t a religious awakening like the one in the nineteenth century. But strangely added that this new awakening has everything to do with faith and religion. Three Protestant ministers backed his gumption. No Catholics, sadly.

The Third Great Spiritual Awakening in America created the “burnt over districts” of Eastern New York and inspired (among other religions) Mormonism, 7th Day Adventism, and Christian Fundamentalism. Charismatic pastors who preferred zeal and enthusiasm to humble piety as the incontrovertible proof of a converted soul were power brokers who shunned any (name removed by moderator)ut from the Catholic Church. This is a time in American history when blights and perversions of Christianity, restored churches with patriotic missions, give short shrift to The Fullness of the Truth.

I suggested Beck was drawing energy and inspiration from that movement.

Today I suggest to the forum that if he truly draws his energy and inspiration from the Third Great Spiritual Awakening in America, the Awakening that created Mormonism, then the role of Catholicism as a pinnacle of Christian faith in America shall be downplayed, marginalized, perhaps given lip service, perhaps distantly and tactically considered as a way to win elections as it was then.

I’m not so sure I welcome this. In the wake of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation just around the corner, is Beck sewing the seeds of an American backlash against Catholicism?

Would be nice if critics of the “Restoring Honor” rally would argue about the purpose and actual content of the rally. Is America post-racial now or not? Do you believe in the message of the Lord, as transcribed by MLK, or not? Should we be about measuring the content of character and not color of skin, or not? There are many more photos available at many sites, which show many more faces of color who got the message and are hungering for the same thing - a restoration of honor, character, faith in the Almighty, hope, and charity. Is this an evil desire? CSPAN has the entire rally posted on its website for those who need a reality check. Get past the culture of personalities and let’s get on with getting ourselves right with God, then everything else will take care of itself.

The Church may have it. Unfortunately many of its members do not understand it, refuse it or totally ignore it…

You did say something about yourself. Are you not apart of the “us” you refered to below?

Why waste time on an intra-Protestant squabble over race? People like Beck and Sharpton should be looking to us, not the other way around.
You also need to understand that the Church’s teachings on “social justice” are of subject to the application of prudential judgement. Many people of our faith lack this and thus misrepresent the true meaning of “social justice”. The Church’s teachings on “social justice” are not hard and fast rules nor have their fullness of truth in application to government been taught.

I wonder if all the people who are critical of Glenn Beck’s rally for not having enough black people, are critical of MLK’s speech for not having enough white people. Hmmm…

With that said, I’m not a big fan of Glenn Beck. As some said earlier, he seems to smack of prophetic and hyperemotional personality. He’s just too emotional to me. I suppose it’s good that he gets people to actually care, but it’s a hard contrast to the likes of William F. Buckley, Jr. and Russell Kirk. I stay away from this business.

And God does not have a political party. Most Republicans are just as depraved as the Democrats. Glenn Beck claims signs as miracles, just like Michael Moore claimed hurricane Gustav. Ultimately, God’s will prevails, but Beck should not presume to know what it is.

Hi there. While I’m not a fan of Beck, you are sinning by assuming the worst of your neighbor. You’re judging when it is not at all clear that his motive is simply cash. Not charitable at all, my friend. Also, Media Matters is extremely biased. If you really want an unbiased news site, try Wikinews or Politifact.

There is no doubt that Beck has a following. Gallup has ranked him as the fourth most admired man – just ahead of Pope Benedict XVI – and millions tune in to his daily broadcasts.
But, as his religious rhetoric attests, Beck has gone fishing for a new audience recently.
Weeks before the rally, he gathered about 20 prominent religious leaders for a dinner at which he said God was leading him to talk about revival in America, Land said. The night before the rally, he held a “Divine Destiny” event that promised to leave participants with a “strong belief that faith can play an essential role in reuniting the country.”
That kind of language has some evangelicals upset.
“I believe that Beck used his conservative veneer and doublespeak to co-opt leaders of the religious right,” wrote Brannon Howse, founder of Worldview Weekend, which sponsors Christian worldview conferences.
Others, such as Lou Engle, founder of The Call rallies across the country, said Beck will get qualified support.
“I think evangelicals will see him as a moral voice, not necessarily a spiritual voice,” he said.

Randall Balmer, professor of religious history at Barnard College, said Beck may be showing Romney a “better way to the heart of evangelicals” by being more forthright about his Mormon faith. He even speculated that perhaps Beck is a “stalking horse for Mitt Romney in 2012.”
Whether or not Beck has such political aspirations, Balmer said his efforts to draw evangelical attention could end up creating exactly what Falwell’s father envisioned – a powerful coalition of politically conservative evangelicals, Catholics and Mormons.
“If Beck truly emerges as a leader for that movement, he will have fulfilled Jerry Falwell’s dream,” said Balmer. “I think Beck is working awfully hard to ingratiate himself to that population.”

ad hominem.

I do not think the evangelical will follow. Like the catholic the evangelical believes the LDS to be seriously flawed in thier theology.

Unlike the catholic many evangelicals takes this belief much further. Many to the point of believing the LDS to be condemned if they are not born again etc etc.

I can’t see how an evangelical could support a member of a faith they felt so strongly against. Even if they follow much the same moral code.

My opinion only.

Same reason I believe Romney will be at a big disadvantage. Regretfully so.

I think all conservatives should put aside religious differences and just work for the good of the country. When we are winning the political war, then we can go back to hating each other and mocking our different religions.

And yes, that part was tongue in cheek!!!
