Oh, I know that it was an open event. I just wonder why his message doesnāt seem to resonate with minorities. I mean, I thought Mr. Beck has stated that the goal is to āreclaim the civil rights movement.ā Seems to me that minorities would be drawn to a celebration of Civil Rights but for some reason they donāt seem to be showing up. . . . .![]()
Alveda King, a niece of the civil rights leader, appealed to Beck rally participants to āfocus not on elections or on political causes but on honor, on character ⦠not the color of our skin.ā
Clarence B. Jones, who served as Kingās personal attorney and his speechwriter, said he believes King would not be offended by Beckās rally but āpleased and honoredā that a diverse group of people would come together, almost five decades later, to discuss the future of America.
Were you there?diverse?
That means undertaking an inner individual course of change, not adopting a political movement. Especially not one as flawed as Beckās.Funny, I thought we were called to a life of conversion. (or repentance, or āputting on the new manāāā¦)
Itās OK. Just take comfort there were only 500,000 at the rally.Iām so confused.
Bit of a stretch to make that connection.Glenn Beck said he was going to leave his speech open so God could inspire him. Many of you at this forum agreed that God works in strange ways and why not use a man like Beck. But as it turns out he borrowed a few points from Obamaās stump speech. Was God usiing Obama, too? Iām so confused.

Why would I take comfort in that?Itās OK. Just take comfort there were only 500,000 at the rally.![]()
Do you know who paid for the bus?I was watching on ustream Ishii. wow! And following a thread on another forum. What a wonderful turnout. Friends of mine are there. I wanted to go, but our rural Pennsylvania county filled up three buses so no room. The next county down from us sent four. People in this country are hungering for patriotism, love of country and love of God. They are middle America, and they are awake! This gives me great hope!

But I certainly donāt need Beck telling me what values Iām supposed to hold dear. I have figured that out for myself long ago.Funny, I thought we were called to a life of conversion. (or repentance, or āputting on the new manāāā¦)
If itās anything like the bus I took to Washington, DC this past January to participate in the March for Life, the people who made the journey each chipped in their share to pay for the bus.Do you know who paid for the bus?
Watched most of the rally, other than a few good natured barbs, kept away from politics: Unity, Faith, Hope, and Charity, were the order of the day. That means undertaking an inner individual course of change, not adopting a political movement. Especially not one as flawed as Beckās.
You must not be as secure in your values or you would not be so upset with this rally. If you donāt like it, why bother to post. Do you just feel a need to be disagreeable? But I certainly donāt need Beck telling me what values Iām supposed to hold dear. I have figured that out for myself long ago.
Heās stating his opinion. Didnāt necessarily sound upset to me. You are the one who is taking it as a disagreeable comment. You must not be as secure in your values or you would not be so upset with this rally. If you donāt like it, why bother to post. Do you just feel a need to be disagreeable?
Does not sound like Mr. Beck was talking to Christopher68, sounds to me like he was talking about this country as a whole. But I certainly donāt need Beck telling me what values Iām supposed to hold dear. I have figured that out for myself long ago.
A friendās father didnāt get on the bus from my part of the country, but it was all paid for. No one paid anything to go. Just wondering who foot the bill?If itās anything like the bus I took to Washington, DC this past January to participate in the March for Life, the people who made the journey each chipped in their share to pay for the bus.
Interesting question. Maybe weāll get an answer from someone who went, or from
someone who knows someone who went.
