That’s very odd imo.
So he wore shorts & flip flops. Who cares? He was there to confess not be in a fashion show.A guy actuall showed up in shorts and flip flops for confession this past Saturday
I think that Father’s announcement suggestion is great. Or your slight edit is fine.“PLEASE TURN OFF YOUR PHONES, STOP TALKING AND RECOLLECT FOR MASS.”
Why is this a problem? Is there a dress code for confession?A guy actuall showed up in shorts and flip flops for confession this past Saturday
This could also be announced after the mass, printed int he parish bulletin, or posted on a pedestal sign at the entrance to the sanctuary. Old habits die hard and talking is a really old habit. You are about to spend a holy hour in Christ’s presence. Please silence all devices and vocal chords and enter into the silence of your heart.
The person was going to confession! Repenting of his sins. You know nothing about his circumstances, other than the fact that he took time from his Saturday afternoon to come to church, humble himself, and confess his sins.Uh yes. Respect. Honouring youre creator. God is youre creator. The One youre meant to love and respect. Showing up to your creator in flip flops is hardly respect.
What us wrong with people these days?
What, my story about my son? Nope. Completely true. He’s a great young man. He gives me hope for the future of the Church.Thats a crock and whats worse is that you know it is
Okay… Well, my last confession (not in the church), my priest stood in persona Cristi wearing shorts, a t-shirt, and sandals. And his stole. I took him off-guard and he was kind enough to hear my confession in spite of being rather unprepared to do so. I was grateful. No respect for who you are going to confess to.
Relates to this:And that relatea to going to confession in the confessional in the church and a scheduled time hiow?
Respect can be conveyed through attire, but the lack of particular attire does not necessarily indicate a lack of respect. No respect for who you are going to confess to.
