Jesus got physical on one occasion - and in the Temple no less …

I think you’re OK. We’re not required to be robots with no feelings, and your behaviour was fine.

So you brought your virus into church and into the confessional exposing others and especially the priest in the confessional.

That’s an act lacking in charity to begin with, regardless of the fact they you were in mortal sin.
My bad, I misspoke, it was a mold allergy, due to a condensation pump failure. It moved into my chest. So no lack of charity, but thanks anyway.

well it is pretty easy to look up

i don’t want to ask “where are you from?”

but with a quick internet search, i’m sure you could find the information you seek…

Go figure. I took your advice and apparently there are actually churches with WAY more confession times than the three near me. Some are a bit out of my way but no more than 25 minutes.
Thanks.
PS: I just figured most churches were like these with short confession times offered infrequently…same with adoration.

Honestly, if someone cut in line and the confession times were almost over I’d be pretty frustrated. I’d probably ask the person to get back in the spot they were. I mean, I have a lot of difficulty with self control and I often have a laundry list of serious sins because I get lazy/give in waaay too much. I can’t let someone just cut ahead of me. I’d probably whip out my list and show them so they pity me and let me ahead.

I would feel the same way. It’s not sinful to get mad. Different situation but Christ wasn’t happy when he was flipping tables in the temple.

This is a huge problem at my church. One of the reasons is that there are also a high number of tourists that go to confession and don’t know the process.

Confession is offered 15 minutes before mass and it continues on during the service all the way up until communion by a priest other than the one doing mass. Typically people wait at the end of the pews with the order of who’s next sitting directly behind the person ahead of you. Unfortunately people dart out of nowhere and go right to the confessional.

I once left the mass in anger because I had 3 or 4 people cut ahead of me (chalk that up to a trigger for a depressive episode.) On occasion people will attempt to remedy the problem by standing right next to the confessional and then a standing line forms. However one time, a man comes out and begins to raise his voice and chews us out for standing so close to the confessional door. I was moderately amused because I just witnessed the fastest sin committed in the history of the Sacrament.

If people are not cutting in line, then we are being disrupted by trying to point out the order to one another. Forget about any time of being in a reflective or prayerful state. Waiting for confession stressful and annoying.

I don’t know what the solution is beyond maybe the priest mentioning it during mass. Or maybe adding some cloth to the end of the pews to create some kind of visual cue for people.

I just want to say that the fact that this upset your conscience enough to post here says a whole lot about the kind of person you are. 99.9% of the world would still be complaining about how unfair it all was. Here you are discussing how bad you feel about your response to what happened.

Try not to be so hard on yoursef. I would have been annoyed, too. It is almost worse when this tyoe of thing happens in the confession line (as opposed to the grocery line). I guess that is because we expect people to be on their best behavior in Church.

To me it seemed like she was in the wrong by how she approached it instead of mentioning to you she was there earlier and would you mind etc…but ultimately…does it really matter that much?
Are you in a hurry somewhere lol?

Isn’t it in a way nice that you were a courteous gentleman and let her go first (even if it was rightfully your “turn”)?
Do you know what it is exactly that makes you mad-eg:is it due to a perceived injustice or is it because of like a “how dare she” feeling?

In some parishes I have been to, no one stands in line; everyone just sits in the pews nearby and it is hard to tell whether they are just praying or waiting for the confessional and who got there first.
That is the way ours is, though it is expected that those waiting for confession to sit near the confessional, not up front. I have often thought we should go to a line system, but problems like on this thread make me wonder. We have a lot of people that might not get it, and that would cause hard feelings.

@2towers

Once you see that it’s almost her turn, start to loosen up your joints and stretch your calf muscles. As soon as the next person goes out and she is about to go in for Confession, somersault around her and do a leaping swan dive into the Confessional and close the door before she has a chance to protest.

It hasn’t happened to me, but I can understand how you felt. I think it was rude of the woman, and I can’t blame you for feeling irritated. It’s over though, so say another prayer for her that she learns some manners.

I must say it is interesting how many people have been having issues with this. It has helped me immensely, to read your comments. I hope it has helped everyone else to “get it off your chest” so to speak.

Going to confession - is a cluster - you know what.

I mean how difficult is it -
to arrange a better way - of doing things ?

When I see six rows of pews - with people over sixty-
I walk in, and they give me immediately - the evil eye.
How - on God’s green earth - am I supposed to know -
the order of sequence ?

I wish the Pope would approve a ticket method.
One person hands out tickets - a church helper -
calls the next person…,
Is that so difficult 🤨

I do think God sees - that I made a genuine attempt…
