If that’s your primary source of conflict for the day, I’m envious.

grayback; so you queue up for confession at 5 minutes 'til, time bell

you get chopped out; and say

“well, i tried”

how many times do i have to say it?

confession is available EVERY DAY

simply seek it out

I was at mass super early…
Church was dark…The Priest came out to the altar…
I was surprised…but there he was…putting book on the altar…
So I said to myself, “ Seagull, do it, ask him “
“ hi , I was just curious about how often we need to go to confession” ?

Priest looked up…
Said the Pope goes twice a week…
He - liked the idea of once, every change of seasons…
then spoke about how old people and kids are now scrupulous …
And some are were wasting their time,
because of repeat sins that they don’t attend to turn away from.
And how mass can be a form of confession…etc etc…
He spoke right out the side entrance - as people began arriving.

Seagull’s face - you can imagine my expression

Even with the bat guano craziness of our area, you can call a priest and they will make every effort to do a confession with you if it’s an emergency at 2:00AM.

that’s a little bit screwed up

i’ll just live by what i was taught; confession once/month is good

confession once per year is the minimum

roger that

i delivered food to a very old, retired priest who was living in his own house

he often offered to hear my confession

priests WANT to do this

this is their " job"

they’ve heard everything 1,000x before

please accept what the Catholic Church is offering; FORGIVENESS…

In my parish the disabled have to inform the priest/office of their intention to go to Saturday afternoon confession. Then the must be in line (first person in the line) at least 1 and 1/2 hours before the scheduled time. None of the parishes in my diocese have reconciliation rooms/confessionals for the disabled.

Truth! Just made me and my family crack up reading this post out loud!

I personally tend to think this is the best idea. There is really no way to know why this person did that, intentionally or unintentiobally. Reading some of the responses in the thread my thoughts move to, “considering how much Jesus put up with for my sins, I can let this go”. Honestly I would probably be a bit annoyed too though…

This reminds me of a Divine Mercy confessional service recently. There was someone in front of me and she seemed awfullly nervous, and was making some uncomfortable statements. Later as the confession time was ending, and the mass time approaching, she loudly called with a nervous laughter at the person in the confessional. “Time to go hurry up”. I was so embarrassed for everyone there including her. After thinking about it though i kept thinking that people who often rarely go to confession come to those events, and perhaps her behavior was just her way of dealing with the anxiety of being gone for a long time, or having an uncomfortable confession. I never made it to confession that day, but I think Jesus knew my intent, and truthfully, if it means someone who may not come back if they lose their chance gets to go, that’s a pretty small price to pay on my end. I think He (Jesus) showed me a lesson on that. And how good is our God, seriously. He taught me a gentlee lesson AND someone gets to the confessional. Reminded me how much we need to keep our focus, as the saying goes, “more on He and less on me”. Just a thought, sorry for the longer post.

I don’t think she was lying. She didn’t say a word to begin with, she just appeared as I said in my OP, ten minutes or so, after I had already been in line, and stood six feet to my left, outside of the line, and a few feet ahead of me. She said nothing for the longest while. Then as it became clear to her I thought her behavior odd, she said to the person ahead of me, she finally says to the guy in front of me…“I was behind you here earlier.” to which I say, “oh were you? I didn’t see you.” she replies… “oh yes, yes I went down in the church…”

You can see the rest of it by reading the OP. Hope that clears up the confusion. If she had simply said to me “Im sorry, I got out of line for a while to do ___________, do you mind if I get my place back?” This thread would have never happened.

I don’t know why this bugs you so much. Whether she was lying or not you should simply have said nothing and prayed for her.

It’s understandable to be angry if a person cut in the confession line. It’s rude0
