I’ve taken this one several times before, and this is the first time I’m Catholic anything. I don’t know if I changed my attitudes or know the right answers!

I’m surprised, mine comes up as 100% RC now - before it would be unitarianism or sikhism (huh?) IIRC, then it was liberal Protestantism

Here’s my results:

I turned out to be Jewish thank goodness.

I didn’t do too well on these:

  3. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (29%)

  7. Jehovah’s Witness (17%)

Seek and destroy the 17% of JW thought:whacky:
I’ve no idea at all what they think about anything - when approached by JW’s and Mormons I’ve just said “I’m Jewish and not even vaguely interested,” and they leave me alone.

Yeah, UU is pretty comprehensive. 😃 I’ve seen it as more of a social/intellectual center than a religion, if you don’t take offense.
There are definitely times…😉

For us it provides a good supportive community structure within which to hone and actually practice our theology in practical ways rather than just within the realm of theory alongside others with similar goals and worldview. What more does one ask from a religious organization in the end?

I’ve taken this quiz several times in the pass…

The results of the quiz, most of the times, are 100% Eastern Orthodox and 100% Roman Catholic. (No surprise seeing I’m Catholic)

However there have been 2 occasions where I got something other then 100% Roman Catholic

The first time this happened is when I took the quiz right after I got done reading some Literature about Mormonism. When I took the quiz, after reading the literature about the Mormon Faith, I got a score that said 100% Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons).

The second time I got something other then 100% Roman Catholic is when I took the quiz after reading some literature about Lutheranism. I got a score that said 100% Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant.

I think the literature temporally influenced my thoughts…
I here all the time how literature can influence people. I have always just have had a “whatever” type response. However, my own experience just showed me how that is possible.

When I got a response other then Catholic I re-took the quiz and on the second time I got 100% Catholic.

Nonetheless, I still like taking these types of quizzes time to time.

Today I got 100% Roman Catholic and 100% Eastern Orthodox.

Here are my top 5 today:
  1. Eastern Orthodox (100%)
  2. Roman Catholic (100%)
  3. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (90%)
  4. Orthodox Quaker (75%)
  5. Seventh Day Adventist (75%)

I think you are right on that…
‘What are your thoughts on the filioque clause?’ is a rather more specific question than the rest of them… I’ve no idea why they didn’t just put the two together as Catholic/Orthodox.

The quiz is “good” and it does a “fair” job of describing the “beliefs” of each faith.

However it is somewhat erroneous. For example the question on confession, I picked “All sins/wrongs to a cleric” as my answer, so I would get 100% Roman Catholic outcome.

If I answered honestly with “All sins/wrongs, but not necessarily to a cleric” I would not get a 100% Roman Catholic outcome. I would get 100% Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant and 96% RC/ 96% EO

This is because the writers of the quiz have the erroneous idea that Catholics must confess ALL sins in a confessional to a priest.

However, Catholicism doesn’t teach that. It teaches that only mortal sins must be confessed to a priest. Yes, it’s good to confess venial sins in the confessional and yes there is nothing wrong with it and it is encourage. However the Catholic does not have to confess venial sins in the confessional. Confessing venial sins can be done in the comforts of your bedroom.

Knowing this I answered this one question with what I know the writers of the quiz would consider to be the “Catholic” Answer. So it’s possible that the writers of the quiz do not know that Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxism have slightly different views when it comes to the “filioque”.

Also, they aren’t lumped together because they are 2 separate religions. Although not that separate seeing within Catholicism we have Latin (Roman) Catholics and Eastern Catholics.

Which can also explain why a person will get 100% Roman Catholic and 100% Eastern Orthodox…I just look at as 100% Latin Rite and 100% Eastern Rite…🙂

I pretty much failed that :(. I didn’t like the wording and was kinda confused  … Anyway got a 68 on Roman Catholic  and aced as a Mormon :bigyikes:

When they’re trying to figure out what general faith you subscribe to, little doctrinal questions like how many lines are in your version of the Creed are a bit too specific to only a few of the results 😉

True enough, but they lumped all of Protestantism into two groups, and that’s some 30,000+ religions right there 😉

I didn’t write the quiz. 😉

It just does a “fair” job of describing person’s beliefs and most likely were they would “fit” in at.

Have you checked how beliefnet describes the term “Conservative Protestant” and “Liberal Protestant”?

Both Anglican/Episcopalian and Lutheran are under the term “Conservative Protestant” and “Liberal Protestant” this is because even under those headings there are polar opposites. It does the best it can.

It’s not a perfect test, but it does help give someone a general idea.

and more Seventh Day Adventist too… 😛 :rotfl:

you scored 82% and I scored 75%

I took that a few times.

Mostly it’s 100% Catholic and Orthodox, 94-97% Mainstream Protestantism, and several other things below 85%.

I am AA also. Provides some of the same things. Some good comparisons between AA meeting and Quaker meetings. More of an emphasis on ethical behavior than theology.

Epsilon Omega-- need to straighten out your thinking on those two. An objective read of the BOM keeping in mind the time period of 980 AD to 1470 AD and the Vikings should help. Give a thorough read to I Nephi, then skim to Alma and settle down again to thorough reading.

I am surprised at SDA. I guess they are not as far “out there” as I thought.
