“The selection of topics covered in a biology curriculum should accurately reflect the principles of biological science. Teaching biology in an effective and scientifically honest manner requires that evolution be taught in a standards-based instructional framework with effective classroom discussions and laboratory experiences.”
Adopted by the NABT Board of Directors,1995. Revised 1997, 2000, May 2004, and 2008. Endorsed by: The Society for the Study of Evolution,1998; The American Association of Physical Anthropologists, 1998.

As a Roman Catholic woman I have every right to support the *The National Association of Biology Teachers Statement on Teaching Evolution *as stated above within my message due to the fact that I believe in the finest education for youth and willingly continue to pay an enormous amount of money yearly for school bonds. These bright, young minds are our future. I wish for them to have the very best educators!
Since I’ve worked for scientists years on end and have been involved in the arts (I sure don’t see PATTERNS in nature!), the fictionalized movie
Expelled - No Intelligence Allowed doesn’t truly meet the criteria for a “historical” documentary. It isn’t worthy of discussion since there wasn’t any accurate portrayal of
artistic or
scientific truth. And, *The Motion Picture Industry *doesn’t even consider it worthy of mention.
You see no “patterns” in nature? Nothing at all that repeats iself, or is a variation on a theme or shows any kind of order? i find that incredible.
" Many of nature’s patterns are related to the golden section and the Fibonacci numbers. For instance, the golden spiral is a logarithmic or equiangular spiral – a type of spiral found in unicellular foraminifera, sunflowers, seashells, animal horns and tusks, beaks and claws, whirlpools, hurricanes, and spiral galaxies. An equiangular spiral does not alter its shape as its size increases. Because of this remarkable property (known as self-similarity),* it was known in earlier times as the ‘miraculous spiral’.
*Shapes and forms that look similar under any magnification are known as fractals. Numerous apparently irregular natural phenomena display approximate self-similarity, meaning that similar patterns and details recur at smaller and smaller scales. This applies, for example, to the branching of lightning, rivers, trees, and human lungs. Other fractal objects include the chambered nautilus, a head of cauliflower, coastlines, clouds, snowflakes, and rocks (a magnified rock can look like an entire mountain)."
"Phi can be found in the proportions of the bodies of humans and other creatures, including birds, flying insects, frogs, fish, and horses. The height of a newborn child is divided by the navel into two equal parts (1:1), whereas in adults, the division of the body’s height at the navel yields two parts in the ratio 1:φ, though the navel is usually a little higher in females and a little lower in males. Phi is found in the proportion between the hand and the forearm, and between the upper arm and the hand plus forearm.
Fig. 2.5 Each section of an index finger, from the tip to the base of the wrist, is larger than the preceding one by about 1.618, fitting the Fibonacci numbers 2, 3, 5 and 8.
Code:
The DNA molecule measures 34 angstroms long by 21 angstroms wide for each full cycle of the double helix spiral. 34 and 21 are Fibonacci numbers and their ratio closely approximates phi. DNA has two grooves in its spirals, with a phi ratio between the major groove and the minor groove (roughly 21 angstroms to 13 angstroms)."
I could give more examples, but
are you saying all of those “patterns” don’t exist? Does all this seeming ‘order’ come from random chance?
patterns are everywhere in nature. Visual and structural patterns…
That is where some architects and other artists have gone to find inspiration for designs. The patterns are there to see visually and it would seem illogical to say that underneath that visual exterior there are no patterns on a structural level. Even the science books I remember had basic diagrams of ‘cells’, and you can’t diagram something that doesn’t have a basic structure.

By the way I love your quote about the Blessed Mother, and she is a 'spiritual pattern" I would hope to replicate in my being in terms of being responsive to God’s will.
