Benedict XVI holds final papal audience in Vatican

I don’t get EWTN, so I am watching CNN. They are showing, without commentary, Pope Benedict’s address to the Cardinals. They will cover the Pope throughout the day so I plan to check in.
 
Watching now… haven’t been to sleep. I will pull this all day.
 
I know some people here criticize CNN. I have watched them since they came on the air as the first 24-hour news station (in my teenage years) and have a generally high opinion of them. I do think there is some sleaze they cover (like the Jodi Arias case). I appreciate that a secular station is showing so much about the Pope. They also cover the Pope’s Christmas Eve Mass, among other things.
 
Well, CNN is pretty trashy, although not the trashiest. They always pine over “women’s ‘ordination’” and such things. It is rather funny to me that secularists say they don’t care about the Catholic Church; their media choices suggest otherwise.

True. They are having commentary now but still showing the Pope greeting the cardinals. I’ve been up for over an hour now and haven’t seen them cover any other stories.
 
Thanks. CNN has been checking in all day. They covered the pope’s address to the cardinals and also him greeting them.
 
I shall miss him too, a great Pope. Here are some of his predictions, that may be of interest…

*Fr. Ratzinger stated in a series of 1969-70 radios addresses on German and Vatican radio. These were published in 2009 in the book, Faith and the Future.

Benedict’s Angelus prayers this past Sunday, as reported by Vatican Insider, fit the same theme. He prayed: “The time of testing is here. We must not use God for our own ends.”*

Also watching, as per our other thread for the Cardinals for whom we are praying. Although they are not identifying them, I think I saw “my” Cardinal greet the Holy Father. Joan Lewis is commenting and she is very experienced in covering the Vatican.

I see Pope Benedict XVI looking as if a huge weight was lifted from his shoulders. I am comforted knowing that he will be in prayer for the Church and the world after his departure.

Christiane Amanpour is interviewing Cardinal Dolan. The interview is very interesting. I am glad that CNN is allowing Catholic officials to speak.
 
I will miss Pope Benedict XVI. I always liked his intelligence and conservative values. He was a very humble servant of God throughout his papacy.
