Goblet of Fire was the best. I thought Harry was annoying in Order of The Pheonix.
I agree Goblet of Fire was the best. How anyone could vote for Order of Phoenix is beyond me – 700 pages to reveal the “prophecy” that Harry will have to kill Voldemort or die trying. Duh!

I prefer “death eater”. What a great name for bad guys!
I have always suspected that JK Rowling got that idea from Michael Crichton’s Eaters of the Dead, the book the movie The Thirteenth Warrior was based on. Just a suspicion, though.

It is indeed a great name for bad guys.

I voted for OotP, but it could be HBP. I chose OotP because of, as odd as it will sound, Umbridge. She was SO well written, I HATED her! Plus the scene at the end, the fight at the MoM, it was great.

and I have to agree, we’re all dorks.

[SIGN] BUT I’M PROUD TO BE A DORK [/SIGN] if it means I can read Harry Potter…😛

There is a great article on decentfilms.com by Stephen Greydanus about the different types of magic in the works of Tolkien, Lewis, and Rowling. Check it out here

It is well thought out and very thorough and I cannot argue with the conclusion.

I think my favorite HP book is… whichever one I have read most recently. I like them all so much and they all just have something special that I cannot describe. I would say that I probably spent too much time reading these books in the past, and that for spiritual and intellectual health I will need to broaden my literary horizons somewhat, though I think I will still make time for the occasional HP read.

I think it was called Sorcerer’s Stone instead of Philosopher’s Stone because the latter is from medieval history. I bet the publisher believed Americans knew so little history that the title would be meaningless to them. The Philosopher’s Stone is what alchemists were trying to discover–the same as in the HP story.
Of course, anyone who watches FullMetal Alchemist has heard of it too.😃 The two main characters search for it in that show as well.

i just preordered my the new book as my father was bugging me that he had ordered his already.

P.S.–👍 -can’t believe we have gotten 28 clean post. No hijacking! -don’t mean to jinx the thread though…

That’s not what this thread is about…save that for threads that are concerned with the morality of HP.
If I were to ask people to vote on what is the best type of contraceptive device it would certainly seem relevant in a Catholic forum to let folks know about the immorality of contraception.

There have been countless threads on this topic already. I don’t support HP either. However, it hasn’t been officially condemned by the Church. It is up to Catholics’ discretion whether or not they read it.

She abandoned the Church, came back and now wants to lecture those of us who remained faithful to the Church all along? I think not.
If you think you are too ‘faithful’ to learn something from her story then I feel sorry for you.

Youll be pleased to know Harry doesnt practice contraception but he did kiss Cho once. IIRC they broke up shortly thereafter.

What are her qualifications to lecture us on catholic doctrine. She has no degrees, no courses of study in the faith-in fact her only qualification seems to be she was a lousy catholic who has seen the light and nows wants to lecture all of us who never left in the first place,.

She reminds me of the newbies in AA-6 months sober and ready to lecture the world on sobriety.
