There’s lots of news…

Japan is seeking to encourage firms to move out of China.

All free countries need to act if this means, with-holding funds from the WHO or UN for that matter.

The idea of the UN is good for better global relations, to avoid war but this current episode is a disaster.

Oddly enough, the head of WHO accused Taiwan of racism. I read a few stories, I don’t know what Taiwan could have said but Taiwan rejects the idea that they said so.

I heard it today that Japan is going to remove its corporations out of China and I can’t tell you how happy I am.

And yes, I just heard of the director claiming racism via the Taiwanese government. I don’t buy it especially since it was Taiwan that blew the whistle on China that a new disease similar to SARS was rearing its ugly head in China in December.

They were ignored.

I wanted to add this investigative report from EPOCH TIMES:

That’s the best coverage, among the best coverage at least. I had heard about this.

My wife just signed us up for Epoch Times. Seems like a good publication.

The group’s news sites and YouTube channels have spread conspiracy theories such as QAnon anti-vaccination propaganda.
A factual search shows that they have failed several fact checks.
Further, the Epoch Times has a section called Beyond Science that publishes pseudoscience news, such as Supernormal Abilities Developed Through Meditation: Dr. Dean Radin Discusses. Finally, the above referenced NBC News report states “In addition to claims that alien abductions are real and the drug epidemic was engineered by the “deep state,” the channel pushes the QAnon conspiracy theory, which falsely posits that the same “Spygate” cabal is a front for a global pedophile ring being taken down by Trump.”

Overall, we rate The Epoch Times borderline Questionable and Right Biased based on editorial positions that consistently favor the right. We also rate them factually Mixed due to the publication of pseudoscience and the promotion of pro-Trump propaganda and conspiracy theories as well as failed fact checks. (M. Huitsing 8/21/2017) (Updated 2/10/2020)
Promoting pseudoscience alone should be enough to want to avoid them.

These links should be enough for anyone with critical thinking skills to give The Epoch Times a miss.

The scientific studies, scientific experts take, and evidence provided in the documentary should be enough for those with critical thinking skills to ask what analysis, experiment or research was conducted by the instant critics? Is it not they who were too rash or quick on their condemnations here? Is it they who succumbed to considerations other than science, facts, and analyses, say perhaps to ‘political correctness’?

How lucky for Einstein that such fervor did not prevail during the publication of his theory!

Science demands precisely this kind of questioning provided in the documentary, and rejects the dogma of group-think. There is objective truth, and those with critical thinking skills know we must search for it, while it still may be found. Maybe try to review the methods and the robustness of what is put forward in the documentary instead of making ad hominen attacks against the Epoch times.

I am a scientist (applied chemistry and physics). Not a pseudo-scientist. My wife also has sound scientific training as an MD. I have far more faith in the legitimate scientific sources in the mainstream media in spite of their reporting flaws, than a news source known to have promoted pseudo-science, conspiracy theories and fake news.

Legitimate scientists are not perfect, but at least are willing to subject themselves to peer review, something the pseudo-scientific snake oil salesman will never do. Show me peer review of the claims, from people respected as authorities in their fields, and I’ll take notice. Otherwise, I’ve wasted enough time on the topic.

As Hominem? I posted sources. It was their attacks not mine. As for reviewing their methods, please post a link to a peer-reviewed journal article. That is the only way I can properly analyse their claims.

Every news paper/media outlet has a BIAS including the GREY LADY herself, the New York Times. All you’ve managed to illustrate with your post is YOUR OWN BIAS towards anything remotely to the right, i.e., I make it a POINT to read BOTH left-leaning and right-leaning papers/media sources to get a fuller picture and draw my own conclusions because that would be a less BIASED approach then automatically presuming it is false.

Furthermore, you didn’t actually delineate what was wrong with the video in question and the unfactual material therein!

You simply assumed it was wrong or invalid.

p.s. And the article in question is not presupposing anything that I haven’t already read elsewhere albeit with less informative details. And since you are a scientist perhaps then watching the video and providing your (name removed by moderator)ut would be helpful.

Analysis / Bias

In review, The Epoch Times covers straight news reporting through the use of journalists and syndication through the Associated Press and Reuters. Typically, these stories are well sourced and reasonably low biased. However, when reporting on China they do reflect a strong anti-communism bias. The Epoch Times also uses loaded language that usually favors the right such as this: Why Media Organizations Can’t Let Go of the Fake Russia-Collusion Narrative.

I’m curious as Catholics are we supposed to have a PRO-COMMUNIST VIEW??

And considering the many human rights atrocities committed by China is it so wrong to be critical of them?

Realistically, the CCP IS EVIL. And anyone who is bold enough to stand up against Chinese CCP propaganda unlike many of our illustrious MSM have my vote of confidence regarding their coverage on China.
  • In all fairness, I have been seeing some articles in the MSM that are criticizing the CHINESE and that is something to laud, but not near enough! We’ll see whether the MSM caves to Chinese propaganda like the NBA did during the Hong Kong demonstrations!

Josie,

Please don’t pretend to assume you know what media sources I read. You have no idea. Hint, I rarely read US sources, mostly Canadian (both French-speaking and English-speaking), British and French and of different political leanings (left, right, federalist, separatist).

Please don’t also assume I’m anti-right. I am a right-leaning centrist and pragmatist. I am, however, anti alt-right. I am also Catholic, and not Falun Gong.

Before I invest an hour of my time watching a video clip, I will research the source first, and my research indicates that the source is questionable at best.

Of course I didn’t. I’m reviewing The Epoch Times, and not Reuters or the Associated Press. What that statement says is that Reuters and the Associated Press can be counted on to provide reasonably balanced coverage.

You literally just used one source (one which was written by Gosh KNOWS WHO) and call it a day! I am asking you as a scientist to make up your own mind about what is in that video.

I actually would look forward to what you would have to say.

No, that’s not what that statement says per se because its followed by with an exception of their news coverage on China which they consider to be ANTI-COMMUNIST!

Seriously, who the heck wrote that and why shouldn’t there be a bias against communism and more specifically communism practiced in China??

Is it a bias for example TO CRITIQUE NORTH KOREA and the COMMUNISM practiced there??

Would anyone say that of FASCISM, I.e., there is an ANTI FASCIST BIAS and call it a RATIONAL unbiased CRITIQUE??

Ridiculous!!

Actually I did not. I posted two links. I also found several more that come to more or less the same conclusion.

Here’s another source:

Since you watched it, how about you give me an abstract instead so I can decide if it’s worth watching?
