Best Parenting Advice You've Been Given

I dontt think you over did it at all šŸ™‚ in fact I think talking with boys,(sons) spending that real time with them is wonderful.My eldest son was the last to bed but after prayers together at his door we would just talk and talk…now in his twenties he is very open and loving,and switched into people’s moods and feelings.
 
My brothers-in-law both gave me that bit of advice before my husband and I were married. I ignored them and 18 years and six children later, I’m very happy that I did.
Says a lot about them. They are either married to your sisters or you were dating their sibling. OK maybe they are your spouses sibling and it was before you were dating.
 
Don’t think I’m being cynical. It’s a realistic position to take
 
I hate it when I miss that moment straight after school when the kids are absolute chatter boxes it’s the highlight of my afternoon

And those moments when trying not to laugh but trying to be firm get me every time.
 
The one thing that really sticks out is ā€œSay what you mean, and mean what you say.ā€ Not strictly parenting advice as it came from our training officer when we were fostering, but applicable all the same.
 
I have been known to say that to my son on more than one occasion. 😐
