I just happened upon this website when doing a search on Beth Moor. I had never heard of her until the American Idol incident. I happen to be Methodist. I am very offended at the comments that seem to lump all Protestants together as being uneducated, emotional, irrational people. This is definitely not true. There are many Protestant religions based upon ignorance and charisma, but there are also many Protestants, like myself, who do not share their religious beliefs. Please become more informed about all Protestant denominations before stereotyping us all.

I am disappointed that many of you are fans of Beth Moore. I have written critiques of her bible studies, and I can tell you that Beth Moore teaches what is inside Beth Moore’s mind, not what is accurately translated from the scripture. A great deal of her time is devoted to talking about HERSELF, not Christ. Often Christ is not even mentioned. If truth matters to you, don’t be mislead. What Beth Moore passes off as bible studies, is typically a pop-psychology course, focused on the self, self-esteem, etc., peppered with a few scattered bible verses–usually taken out of context and not even read to the class in full. These are only being used to “Christianize” her ideas, but almost always do not relate at all to the meaning of these passages. Look up these passages for yourself and read them in context. You will see this easily. To twist the Holy scripture in order to claim that it supports ideas that never came from scripture is a blatant misuse of the Holy Scripture. Beth Moore’s popularity and flamboyant style are immaterial. She is a false teacher. Even if you get a few practical points from her programs, know that you could get the same effect from secular Dr. Phil programs. These are not true bible studies. You will not learn about scripture from her teachings, but take the time to look up the scripture she uses and compare to a good commentary. The scripture does not support what she claims. A Lutheran radio personality, Chris Rosebrough, has reviewed her “sermons” line-by-line to show how she misapplies scripture. He calls her method a complete “train wreck.” You can listen to these at Fightingforthefaith.com. Go there and search for Beth Moore, and then listen to the second half of these programs that come up. Catholics and Protestants alike are being deceived by this new-age darling of the Southern Baptist Convention and popular star of Protestant book stores. This is spiritual poison, and it is not helpful to buy a bag of rotten apples in the hopes of finding one good one in the bag. So don’t excuse this by saying that you got something good from it. It just is not worth your time, and may dangerously distort your faith. This applies to both Catholics and Protestants. Her teachings are wrong for both.
