We say this at mass the power and glory are yours forever and ever amenChapter 5/
B]6 And I saw: and behold in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the ancients, a Lamb standing as it were slain, having seven horns and seven eyes: which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth.
Thanks this phone thing is hard to figur out
Scott Hann introduced this idea to me of why the lamb is still slain some 60 years after the crucifixion in his book the lambs supper
The reason why he is still slain is because he his still offering his once for all sacrafice to us and we participate in this celebration at mass
13 And every creature, which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them: I heard all saying: To him that sitteth on the throne, and to the Lamb, benediction, and honour, and glory, and power, for ever and ever.
1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne, a book written within and without, sealed with seven seals.
2 And I saw a strong angel, proclaiming with a loud voice: Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
3 And no man was able, neither in heaven, nor on earth, nor under the earth, to open the book, nor to look on it.
4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open the book, nor to see it.
‘Seven’ is always associated with ‘covenant’. So I think the book with seven seals is some document related to the new covenant or it is the new covenant itself. This is could be an other illustration indicating that Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant and that he accomplished his mediation by being a Lamb of sacrifice: the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.5 And one of the ancients said to me: Weep not; behold the lion of the tribe of Juda, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
Hey, I think you are right. The scroll is the Old Covenant. Thanks for the post.Victorinus and Origen wrote that the scroll (5:3) was the Old Testament. The entire Old Testament points to Christ and His Kingdom, whose true nature remains shrouded in mystery until the seals are broken. What was hidden in the Old Testament was revealed in the Messiah.
When we sin, we are slaves to sin, and therefore also slaves to satan. So I thank the answer is, we (as in humanity) ‘give the beast authority’.Hey guys i have a question. In “NLT by the way” Rev 13:7 “And the beast was allowed to wage war against God’s holy people and to overcome them. And he was given authority to rule over every tribe and people and language and nation.” Who gives the beast authority?
