I could list more that I dont follow.

Im more concerned with the Catholics who dont follow.

Mattew 21:28-32
Code:
This parable reminds me that there are some of us Catholics who are receiving unworthily, while there are Protestants who are behaving more like Catholics than us.
But to answer directly, Mattew 18:17 specifically is lost on the Protestant brothers, as far as Teaching goes.

Speaking of Matthew 18:17 in my experience most Christian non-catholic believers follow that more that most Catholic do. But they follow their local church. In the time of Matthew there was no central body. No means of mass communications. In that verse it means the LOCAL church not a church organization. Paul started churches for 15 years before he returned to Jerusalem. Non catholic teach that Christ is the head of His church and each local church was and is guided by the Holy Spirit.

Yes, it seems that Protestant Christians practice a genuine “Church resolve disputes” because they ‘appear’ to do this locally. What actually happens during these disputes many times, is one person determines the local Church they were attenting is not following what they personally believe to be bible based doctrines, and simply choose another pool of Christians and portray their experience through their one sided testamony, without any witnesses.

I would like to acknowledge the first and foremost meaning of this scripture is most likely about behavior, and not doctrine. I have applied doctrinal differences to the situation. But not unwarranted. Even St Paul and St Barnabas, after their debate with the circumcision party were sent to the hierarchy of the Church in order to be Confirmed by the Universal Church. Keep in mind, there had been “much debate” even among the apostles and elders! Yet a decission was made through the leaders not of the local church.

The pick and choosing of different passages in Holy Scriptures by private interpretation was not found in the early Church. Historically, the Cannon of the Holy Scriptures was formulated in 382 AD at the Council of Rome by Saint Pope Damasus1. This is when the 72 Books were decided by the Authority of the Holy Roman Church. Before this, in the first century alone there were 52 Gospels. We use only 27 of those books written at that time. But I digress.
You must ask yourself concerning private interpretation where the Protestants believe the Holy Spirit inspires their interpretations to be just and correct.
Does the God the Holy Spirit, God the Father and God the Son fight among themselves what doctrine (truth – teachings ) are?
Do they change their minds daily concerning what one passage means and then a different interpretation the following day?
Let’s look at Scripture for these answers. First in the Old Testament
[Num 23:17] When he came to him, he was standing beside his burnt offerings with the officials of Moab. Balak said to him, “What has the LORD said?”[Num 23:18] Then Balaam uttered his oracle, saying: "Rise, Balak, and hear; listen to me, O son of Zippor: [Num 23:19] God is not a human being, that he should lie, or a mortal, THAT HE SHOULD CHANGE HIS MIND. Has he promised, and will he not do it? Has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it? [Num 23:20] See, I received a command to bless; he has blessed, and I cannot revoke it.
This clearly shows and also if you read it in Aramaic/Biblical Hebrew that once God says or does something, He does NOT change His mind. One God, Three persons in God The Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
Now the New Testament which dovetails with the Old Testament.
[Heb 13:7] Remember your leaders, those who spoke the word of God to you; consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.[Heb 13:8] JESUS CHRIST IS THE SAME YESTERDAY AND TODAY AND FOREVER [Heb 13:9] Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings; for it is well for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by regulations about food, which have not benefited those who observe them.
This clearly shows again in the Aramaic Biblical Hebrew that GOD is unchanging. One God three Divine person in God Unchanging.
[2 Pet 1:19] So we have the prophetic message more fully confirmed. You will do well to be attentive to this as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.[2 Pet 1:20] FIRST OF ALL YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THIS, THAT NO PROPHECY OF SCRIPTURE IS A MATTER OF ONE’S OWN INTERPRETATION [2 Pet 1:21] BECAUSE NO PROPHECY EVER CAME BY HUMAN WILL, BUT MEN AND WOMEN MOVED BY THE HOLY SPIRT FPOKE FROM GOD
Thus, because it has been proven by Holy Scripture in the Old and New Testament, that God does not change His mind after He says (Inspires) it, and is the same yesterday, today and forever. How can Protestants claim to be inspired by the Holy Spirit when there are 38,000 Protestant Dominations with that many different interpretations. There cannot be 38,000 Holy Spirits, but only ONE true interpretation from the founding of the Church by God in 33Ad.

Interesting History lesson.

Where did you get the 38,000 Protestant Denominations number from? **Can you sight a source for that number? ** I’d like to do the research to see what the names of those denominations are? Could you please let me know the book you are referencing?

Who knows how many ‘denominations’ there are? It’s like studying the history of the American Indians.

The point is there are many pools of Christians who are not Confirmed by the same source.

Its easy to claim that the Holy Spirit said so. But that simply wasn’t enough even for the great Apostle Paul. He told us he was compelled to declare the gospel he preached before the leaders of the Church. He was Confirmed through Peter.

This is what Catholics profess as divine truth; that the See of Peter has the highest Apostolic Authority for Teaching, Interpreting, and Confirming the whole Church.

Paul was ‘sent’ by Jesus himself to be baptized and receive the Holy Spirit through the Church. Then he was ‘sent’ by the Church to his ministry. Paul, was never in any way acting outside the Ministry of Peter and the Apostles. Twice he went before them for Confirmation, not for ‘man’s’ approval, but Christ’s Confirmation. Both times he was preaching the Truth.

Here is the problem with that statement: The Catholic CHURCH teaches us, INDIVIDUALS choose to obey or not. There are Catholics who strive in their lives to remain true to the teachings of the church and there are “Cafeteria Catholics” who pick and choose what doctrines to follow and which to reject. 500 years ago a bunch of those guys left the church in protest, hence Protestantism.

Face it, we’re all sinners. The choices we make are the ones that we will face at our judgement. Since protestants rely on their own interpretation of scriptures, they can accept or reject anything they want. True Catholics will follow the scriptures based on the interpretations in the Catechism. Fortunately for those who don;t, we have reconciliation to help us get back on task.
Yea, I don’t disagree but I know plenty of Catholics, faithful the their marriages yet abandoned by their spouses. They ask for help from the Church and the silence is deafening.

I learned at Pre-Cana that financial honesty is important, that NFP isn’t awful and that my fiancé prefers touch to show affection rather than gifts. I learned nothing about the reality that earth marriage is a sign of the reality of the Trinity. That to attempt to dissolve a marriage is like trying to murder a person, they might be “gone” but they still exist. I did not learn that all vocations lead to marriage, whether earthy or eternal because pouring one’s life out is the reality of Trinitarian life.

Sooooo, it is great that the Church has a book that says marriage lasts for life, but they don’t support abandoned spouses, they teach surface goods before tossing people into marriage and while I also know many happily married Catholics we INDIVIDUALS who are part of the CHURCH do not live the joy of marriage to enlighten our neighbors. This is a profound problem.

The number I quoted is ONLY for America. The source is Councils of Churches
Approximately 230 NEW Protestant Churches are registered with the Council each WEEK.

I included this in my History of the Bible which was suppose to be 3 pages but turned out to be 250+ pages with references from the times (if available) to support my History, NOT my contention. Here is their link. They have 37 MAIN Divisions but well you can read for yourself.

So even if there were TWO or THREE churches stating they were inspired by the Holy Spirit, THEN that would go against Scripture

Practical: The clear prophecy of Christ in Wisdom 2. Doctrinal: Prayers for the dead, that they may be loosed from their sins 2 Maccabees 12.
It’s a big stretch from one verse in Maccabees to the construction of “purgatory.”

I can understand how some may see it as a construct. But, the Church which defined your bible uses that Hebrew High Priestly practice of prayer for the dead (it’s not just a verse), in combination with 1 Corinthians 3:10-15, as well as Matthew 5:21-26, Luke 12:57-59 and others to realize that something must happen to a soul which still has some level of sin at judgment. We know that no impure soul may enter God’s Kingdom (Apocalypse 21:27) - nothing impure will enter into God’s Wisdom (Wisdon 7:24-26).

If you would, please explain a single one of these verses: 1 Corinthians 3:10-15. Just how, on judgment day, is a man still saved after his work is tested by God and burns up? Please describe the exact process by which he is saved as though passing through fire - bearing in mind that this occurs after this life and after this world.

Thanks for the link, but that did not answer my question. Where did you get the number for the 38,000 Protestant Denominations? Can you suggest a reference? I’d like to be able to study the names of the denominations and refer to the book in discussions with others. Thanks.🙂

You can find some references in the link below. I can give you another title if you can wait until monday? Our public library has one but I can’t remember the title.

This is the link only copied the first paragraph. Note the number 37 GROUPS and 100,000 LOCAL CONGREGATIONS.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Council_of_Churches

The National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA, usually identified as the National Council of Churches (NCC), is an ecumenical partnership of 37 Christian faith groups in the United States. Its member denominations, churches, conventions, and archdioceses include Mainline Protestant, Orthodox, African American, Evangelical, and historic peace churches.[citation needed] Together, they encompass more than 100,000 local congregations and 45 million adherents.[citation needed] It began as the Federal Council of Churches in 1908, and expanded through merger with several other ecumenical organizations to become the National Council of Churches in 1950.[1] The NCC’s influence peaked in the 1950s, deriving its strength from a commitment to ecumenism, while the NCC’s strident antiwar position against the Vietnam War in the 1960s alienated the laity leading to a decline in influence thereafter.[2]

Purgatory is mentioned BY NAME 64 times in Holy Scripture. I attempted to post my small paper on this net, but it was larger than the reply could handle.

SO

If you want to know where Purgatory is found in the Bible, write to me at

hebijudo@hotmail.com

Ask me to send it to you and I shall. Again it is too large to post on this net.

Greetings,

I am surprised at the number of people who did not seem to understand the OP’s intentions.

Anyway, I reformatted my page here listing many Bible passages that are literal affirmation of Catholic doctrine that many Protestants reject.

Thanks Tarpeian, but this is a link to the World Christian Encyclopedia. I have actually come across this one before. When you site the page on which the Denominations are listed, you get well over 30,000 denominations in which Roman Catholic denominations are listed as well as EO and Protestants, along with cults(non-Trinitarian groups).

Yes, I realize this El Snake, but I just wanted to know the names of the congregations and where the NCC references the numbers so I can have a better understanding of the 38,000 Protestant Denomination factor. Thanks in advance.

You must write them for that answer. Notice it also stated there were 100,000 different churches in the US. I believe they can give you the answer. I just deal in the numbers.

Remember this, as I have stated before, even if there were ONLY two Protestant Churches claiming guidance by the Holy Spirit, and stating they were inspired by the same, then it would make the Holy Spirit a liar because since He is God, and Scripture states God does not change His mind,… well you can take it from there.

Write to them. They shall assist you
