That was not the point of the questioning at all. Romney got questioned about religious practices, too.

Chattel slavery was NEVER the norm! American slavery was the most brutal, dehumanizing form of slavery in human history!

He sure doesn’t sound offended.
Neither do I when someone says something anti-Catholic. Most of us don’t.
Pagan? Next will Democrats throw women into the Grand Canyon in their rituals?
No, but they’ll feel much freer to throw babies into toilets or trash cans.
There needs to be respect for others with differing political views.
Oh, I respect individuals, but I don’t necessarily respect their views, especially when their view include killing innocent children. And that’s not, to me, a “political view”, other than very secondarily. It’s a moral view, as it is supposed to be for every Catholic but, unfortunately, is not.

Sarah Palin was a terrible choice for Vice- President. The late Senator John McCain rued the day he selected her as his running mate. She’s why he didn’t win the presidency in 2008.

Shockingly, choosing Harris seems to have confirmed what everyone already thought. If you don’t like Trump, this was a great pick. If you like Trump, it was a horrible misstep.

I don’t know why anyone bothers with politics threads anymore. It’s just rehashing the same points over and over. It’s not like minds are being changed at this point.
You are right. Coming here is really a bad habit for me- one I have been unable to quit.

Politics has gotten more ugly than at any time in my life. I have lost friends because of it.

Saying a political party has “pagan views” when it clearly does not is disrespectful. That crosses the line.

McCain stated accurately that Ms. Palin had a positive effect on the ticket.

I can only imagine the outrage and claims of anti-Islamic bigotry if Rep Omar were to be asked if her being a Muslim impacts her impartiality support and defend the constitution.

" President Donald Trump, claiming vindication from the impeachment trial and ready to settle scores, questioned Sen. Mitt Romney’s faith Thursday as he derided him as a “failed presidential candidate” who is sore he never won the White House.

Trump, in a rambling celebratory speech in which he thanked supporters for having his back during the monthslong impeachment proceedings, was dismissive of Romney, arguing the Utah Republican invoked his religion as “a crutch” in explaining his vote to oust the president over abuse of power.

Romney, Trump said, “never used [religion] before. An article written today: ‘Never heard him use it before.’ But today, you know, it’s one of those things.”"

"HOWARD, Wisconsin - Mitt Romney’s faith was thrust into the spotlight on Monday, when a Ron Paul supporter tried to quote a passage from a Mormon text and asked Romney if he believed interracial marriage is a sin.

The question arose during a town hall in this suburb of Green Bay by 28 year-old Bret Hatch, who came prepared with a piece of paper that contained quotes from Mormon scripture."

" Columbia, S.C. (AP) — Republican Mitt Romney on Tuesday dismissed questions about whether his Mormon faith would be an impediment to his White House aspirations, echoing the argument that voters will be choosing a president not a pastor.

The former Massachusetts governor faced questions about his faith in this Bible Belt state where a few Republicans expressed deep reservations about backing a Mormon. Romney said he was making inroads with the GOP in this early voting state."

Don’t you remember Huckabee on Mormonism?

Asked and answered. Believe me, she was asked.

Don’t play the ‘anti-Catholic’ card so easily. This is how the nominee responded:

“But as Buescher explained to Sen. Hirono, fears that membership in such organizations compromise the independence of a potential judge bely the reality that the Knights of Columbus simply “does not have the authority to take personal political positions on behalf of all of its approximately two million members.” He assured the senators that, if confirmed, his decision-making would be shaped by the Code of Conduct for United States Judges and by his oath of office, not by any “policies or positions” taken by the Knights of Columbus.”
We’ve been discussing Mrs. Harris’ opposition to the knights and their Catholic beliefs. The person you are quoting is not Mrs. Harris. I wonder if you might have inadvertently copied a different paragraph then intended?

The claim of opposition came from her questioning judicial nominee Brian Buescher. Thus the paragraph.

Do you think? Abortion and homosexual marriage are certainly not Christian. Not Islamic. Not Jewish. Not Shinto. Not Buddhist. The closest one can come to it historically is the worship of Moloch, in which parents thought to ensure themselves a better life by burning their children in a sacrificial fire. We differ from that in that we cut them up first before burning their bodies or just throwing them in the trash for the landfill crows and rats.

Not much to be desired in that choice, though.
