It’s not about who is without ANY sin.

It’s about who actually agrees with Catholic teaching, and on every level, Biden does not.

It’s a shame, and an embarrassment, that he is our example of what an American Catholic is.

Actually, now that I think about it further, with as many cafeteria Catholics as we have I suppose he is the most realistic example of an American Catholic.

Obama’s schedule is planned out to the minute with many critical things, and when it’s not, I’m sure the rest is needed with the stresses of being the President. I’m sure he will have the chance to speak with the pope privately soon enough. As an American and a Catholic, I think that sending Biden is a fine compromise between showing respect for the new pope and fulfilling the President’s duty to country.

A person can know and agree that certain actions are sinful, but still falter and fall, and commit those sins. But they never attempt to call their sinful action okay.

I didn’t realize the Holy Father needs our help to recognize the wrongs of another. I always thought a persons sins were between them and their confessor, and God of course.

None of us are free from sin. I think we all know that. But few of us are in the public eye as Biden is. He’s representing American Catholics and at the same time he’s espousing the Obama administration’s hostile actions against the very church he claims to belong to. And he’s doing this in a very public fashion, causing scandal. He’s setting a very bad example for the young Catholics in our country. They can see what he does and think it’s okay to disagree with church teachings and do whatever you feel is right.

I understand why Biden must go.

But what an embarrassing representative for American Catholics.

If he were the representative of American Catholics, that would be true…but he’s not.

If I recall correctly, when JPII died, the official US delegation didn’t have a single Catholic in it. Vice-President Biden is going to Rome as the head of the official delegation of the United States of America, nothing more…nothing less.

They will never become ‘good examples’ if prevented from the source of good; in this case the head of His Church. Wouldn’t it be something to rejoice if Biden could come to realize the errors of his ways through such a visit?

Exactly…I feel quite certain that there will be other official representatives there who are not living in line with all Catholic teaching. If everyone was doing so there really wouldn’t be a need for the Church, would there?

At least Obama has some decency in not showing face. The hypocrisy would be too much to stomach. For as far off as his convictions are at least he stands by them.

Believe me, I’d be the first in line to rejoice if Biden had a change of heart and was willing to show that change. Maybe then he could have some influence on the rest of the current administration and their policies. I’ll say a prayer that he’ll be changed by this event.

When he was a Cardinal he signed a document that indicated that Catholic politicians who support abortion through legislative means should be denied communion. Would you have a problem with that if VP Biden were told that upon arriving in Rome?

I feel certain that VP Biden will do a more than adequate job representing the people of the United States. This is about secular diplomacy and respect…remember…all the non-Catholics who will be representing their respective nations are technically heretics.
