In every election projection poll to date, O’Donnell loses to Coons by double digits. electionprojection.com/2010elections/statepages/de10.php

You can dress it up and justify it all day long. It will not matter. If Mike Castle was the candidate, the race would have been a lot tighter and more winnable for the GOP.

And Mike Castle would have voted with the Democrats on many of the really important issues (Olympia Snowe is a good example of this). The only thing that having Mike Castle elected would have done is maybe the Republicans get 51 seats and and can appoint the leadership to the committees. Can they effect legislation in any real manner, no without 60 seats the Dems can invole cloture and block legislation, and nothing gets done.

In 2012 then Barack Obama can blame the Republicans for all of the woes of the country.

So I am not some big Christine O’Donnell backer, but I loose no sleep over a liberal republican not getting elected.👍
 
Bottom line is, because of the Tea Party, the GOP will not pick up a US Senate seat in Delaware.

Are there RINO’s in the Senate now? You bet. However, the GOP needs a majority first, in order to repeal all the Obama schemes. MAJORITY FIRST. Repeal second. Deal with the RINO’s later.

In football, a team can decline a penalty if it means better field position or downs. The Tea Party is acting like a football team who, no matter what, accepts all penalties and declines none … based on the principle of it. They’re cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Unless you have a veto proof majority you will not reverse Obama’s Healthcare laws or anything else. If you have a 50-50 split in the Senate or 49 (R) to 51 (D) the Democrats still control the senate, but, they will not ve able to pass any more stimulus schemes or cap and trade etc.

The next step is to vote Obama out of office in 2012. Then and only THEN will you be able to reverse the bad laws and programs of the Obama administration.

It is true that a lot of Catholics turned their backs on the Church in the last election and put politics ahead of their faith . Having seen that Obama’s support of abortion is just one facet of what a terrible president he has been hopefully they won’t make the same mistake in 2012

You know, the Church never said: “Don’t vote for Obama”. So I think you need to stop.

All we have is folks’ opinions … and everyone has one of those.

They specifically said he you could not vote for somebody who supported unrestricted taxpayer funded abortion on demand. The fact that you decided to ignore that does not make it untrue

I tend to agree with this. The battle in November will be over the Senate; not the House. Most political experts I know of predict the GOP will take back the House. Even if the Senate stays in Democratic Hands, they’ll still have an uphill climb in passing certain legislation. 👍

I’m sure there were also many bishops that voted for Obama. There were some very vocal bishops that spoke against him, certainly. The Church did not take a position. The Church also never said that one could not in good conscience vote for him. The Church also never said one could not in good conscience vote for someone on the wrong side of any particular issue. That the Church said any of those things is a persistent myth that some like to spread on this forum.

Since not one single Bbishop said it was ok vote to for him or gave any indication that they voted for him such an accusation is specious. If one feels better ignoring Vatican documents , statements from 62 bishops and the Pope then so be it. As I’ve said many times the mental gymnastics a Catholic must go through to try and rationalize voting for those who support unrestricted taxpayer funded abortion on demand is a terrible thing to behold.

That is, unfortunately, almost certainly true. And if they did, they directly contradicted Church Teachings and Morals. Like another poster said here, Priests are only Human. The thing is, they are called upon to follow Christ’s example and that of the Church. I sort of understand the motivations that impelled them to vote for Obama but the fact remains the man is Pro-Choice, Pro-Gay Marriage, and a lot of other things that go against Church Teaching. Again, they were supposed to set an example to the rest of us and they did not live up to that.
