But at one time, did she say that she dabbled in witchcraft on a Satanic altar? How many people do you or anyone else know who have been going around dabbling in witchcraft on Satanic altars. I thought that it was wrong to set up an altar dedicated to Satan.

Do we all agree that the country and in fact, the whole world, is in pretty bad shape right now? I think that the last thing that we need is to have elected officials praying to Satan or dabbling in witchcraft on Satanic altars. This can only make things much, much worse. Satan is the fallen angel of evil and darkness, the devil who seeks everyone’s ruin and damnation.

Only ignorance would allow someone to assume that she might do that in office. She was a child when she did it.

I didn’t know that she was praying to Satan or dabbling in witchcraft? I believe she said she did all this when she was a teenager and hasn’t done it since. She has all indications of being a very devout Christian now-do you believe in redemption? Would you prefer a devout Christian who is pro-life and admits to having made mistakes in their past to an official who supports unrestricted taxpayer-funded abortions on demand who admits to being a Marxist when he was younger?. That is the choice facing voters in her race this year.

First of all, are you trying to be sarcastic here? If so, I think emoticons woul make it more clear. 🙂

Second of all, to be perfectly specific, O’Donnell never said she was PRACTICED witchcraft; she said she ATTENDED some Black Mass-style meetings with her boyfriend—apparently out of curiosity and a love for him. She was not devout or strongly Christian back then. From what I understood of she has said, nowhere did she State she was a practicing Witch/Satanist at any time. If I’m wrong, people are free to correct me.
Many know that I was New Age/Pagan at one time and worshipped Egyptian Gods briefly. Does that mean that must be held against me all my life?

What does the fact that she briefly attended some Black Masses and now regrets it affect the way she is going to represent the people in her state? She even admitted it for Pete’s sake!!!

Does the fact that OBH was a follower of Jeremiah Wright, the Hateful Anti-Semite and Anti-American Preacher and “Black Liberation Theologist”------should THAT be held against him perpetually? Does THAT affect the way he presides over our country now?

Especially since OBH WAS a believer at one time of Black Liberation Theology----and did NOT refute it and distance himself from it until his beloved Preacher made the unfortunate mistake of being videotaped saying “G–D–N America!!!” to his congregation----then sunk himself in further by turning a National Press Club speech into a love song to himself and to his vile “Theology.” And referenced Barry in the process.

It wasn’t until THEN that OBH found it “expedient” to repudiate his mentor. Before then he pretty much had no problem with the fact his Preacher was a Hateful Bigot. In a way, I understand. We cannot have one’s name be constantly referenced during a speech by a Black Liberation Extremist and Anti-American Bigot. 👍

So tell me, Sid, has O’Donnnell continued to stand by her “scandalous” Satanist past until it was expedient for her not to do so?😊

I disagree with your statement of the issue. The issue is her background and history seeing that she is running for high federal office. This ‘witch’ stuff is just a pothole on the road.

Actually, it is irrelevant. If your question is if she was investigated thoroughly what happened to others really makes no difference. As to ‘fairness’; I don’t deal with that as a political concept since it is far too subjective.

I agree her financial dealings and college payments ARE fair game----but I would strongly disagree that the Witch issue is MORE than just a “Pothole In The Road.” First of all, that is the story that sticks most currently in the minds of the public, not her College and Financial dealings. And whether those past mistakes automatically disqualify her form running.

Second, that IS what the general subject of this thread is----the Witch issue AND whether Bill “Religious Folk Are Superstitious Idiots” Maher may have used her brief attendance at a Black Mass as a tactic to both push his Atheist message on the Public AND also deliberately try to sabotage O’Donnell’s Senate bid by planting doubt in the minds of the public.

But of course, that has nothing to do with the topic—does it? :rolleyes:

Here’s the statement attributed to O’Donnell that I saw in the news: “I dabbled into witchcraft. I hung around people who were doing these things. I’m not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do. One of my first dates with a witch was on a satanic altar and I didn’t know it. I mean, there was a little blood there and stuff like that.
We went to a movie and then had a little picnic on a satanic altar.”

I don’t think that Satanism is anything to be joking about.
What is the definition of an altar?
I thought that it was an elevated place or structure or platform at which religious rites are performed or on which sacrifices are offered to God, etc.
But in her case, the altar was bloody and was dedicated to Satan?
Satanism is nothing to be fooling around with.

I agree with you-----but she made it clear it was BRIEF flirtation with it and she has repented of it. How many years are proper “punishment” for this?

If God is everywhere but he decided not to be somewhere, I’m thinking the Bill Maher show would be the place he decided not to be.

It was an old show, they brought it up a long time ago and she discussed it…before she was campaigning for anything.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Satanism is not something to fool around with. I’m sorry, but that didn’t seem like a great date. Who casually says they had a picnic on a anykind of altar with bood on it? Let, alone a Satanic one. It isn’t just the witch thing, now it’s the meatball thing, and add to that the college thing, and the money thing…Well, let’s face it. The woman has a colorful way of presenting herself. She was on the Bill Maher (sp?) show 22 times. Who was using whom? Now, it comes back to bite her. Why is the Bill the bad guy here?

It was part of her testimony of what she was saved from when she accepted Christ. It is the reason she headed her agency and became a guest of Politically Incorrect in the first place

Sort of------------but I don’t quite think O’Donell was quite thinking at the time “Jeez, a decade or more down the road I think I will be running for a Senate Seat. Guess I will have to watch and examine with a fine-tooth comb every statement and indiscretion I admit to from now on.”

Maybe you’ll say “she was planning this for years in advance,” but I tend to think not. MY opinion, of course. 👍

Poor judgement and mistakes in your teens and early twenties can lead to wisdom in your later years. Just think how great this county would be if we looked for, promoted and voted in the wisest leaders we can find. Instead we look for the slickest lawyers with Ivy league degrees.

I am quite familiar with Martin Marty.Meaning, no I still think that its Christology is “light.” As for the thread, my computer went down some weeks ago, and it is not easy to go from here back to the thread. a hint please.
