do the 2000 year old words “… can you not spend one hour with Me…” ring a bell?If it’s truly THE devotion…why has it only been around for 500 years…
What were people doing before that?

So, then we ignored that for 1500 years?do the 2000 year old words “… can you not spend one hour with Me…” ring a bell?
Do you realize that your argument is based on the fact that Eucharistic Adoration is only 900 and not 2000 years old? What kind of argument is that anyway? I mean the rosary isn’t 2000 years old…oops there goes it’s value. St. Therese of Liseux has only been a Saint for about a hundred years and a doctor of the Church even less then that…better not worry about what she has to say…Benedict XVI has only been pope for 10 months, better wait 2000 years before I read that encyclical. Come on do you really think something’s value depends on how long its been around? So, then we ignored that for 1500 years?
I don’t mean ignore it…but I’m curious why people would use the words of Jesus from some time ago, that the church has always had in its deposit of faith, to promote the SUPREMACY of this practice…not the legitimacy of it.Do you realize that your argument is based on the fact that Eucharistic Adoration is only 900 and not 2000 years old? You really know how to set up strawman arguments don’t you?
Its supremacy comes from the fact that it is God that is the center of the action.I don’t mean ignore it…but I’m curious why people would use the words of Jesus from some time ago, that the church has always had in its deposit of faith, to promote the SUPREMACY of this practice…not the legitimacy of it.
I rather think that the latter should flow from the former. If I adore Christ, manifest in the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, am I not better formed to follow and obey Him, fufilling His commands to attend to “the least of these?”I was simply bothered by the idea that adoration should come ahead of social justice
It seems as if the Bishop is improving life in many different areas of the Church and community. Thanks for pointing out this article frommi.Probably time to get the thread back on track…

Just an interview with the bishop on the eve of his installation anniversary
No one is surprised that Untener was one of the very worst. He deserved a lifetime achievement award from Amchurch, the Lambda Legal Defense Fund and probably the Democratic National Committee. He was the epitome of what is disgraceful in Amchurch at the Bishop level. It is a pleasure to read that he was replaced (as have many of his pals) by an actual Catholic. It seems as if the Bishop is improving life in many different areas of the Church and community. Speaking of being an ‘actual’ catholic…judging by the vitrolic way you speak about people, I’ll assume you don’t consider yourself one.No one is surprised that Untener was one of the very worst. There was no schism. Once again, exaggeration taken to new heights.fcpilot: we are still rebuilding. Glad to have you join us. Its like a mini-schism took place over a long time. If the focus stays stuck on the “who, what, where and how” its like beating a dead horse and our souls need a break. Our good shepherd, Bishop Carlson, is in the lead and we are on the move (I pray!). Maybe someone else can tell you about the way it is at the Cathedral parish but your description fit many more parishes to a T!
