“I find it archaic and deceiving. It refers in its footnotes to church doctrine and dogma in which our homosexual brothers and sisters are being referred to as intrinsically evil,” she said, according to the Whitehorse Star. “How legal is that in our publicly funded schools?”
Standard liberal fare.

I just have to say, my impulse is to never take any claims from an article on LifeSiteNews at face value.

Interestingly, the actual website of the Diocese of Whitehorse only has listed the original document under their “Policies”:

whitehorsediocese.com/diocesan-pastoral-offices.html

Before we panic and start insinuating that the Catholic Church in the Yukon, in all of Canada, and indeed the whole world is in shambles, I would encourage people to actually read both the original document and the new document (which curiosuly only appears on the LSN website – I have not been able to find it anywhere else online).

Then we should extend the bishop the benefit of the doubt. I have no doubt there is much more going on here than what LSN is reporting.

Note that the Minister didn’t ask the Diocese to take down the original document from its website, it instructed Vanier Catholic High School to take down the diocesan document from its website, which the school did.

This has been brewing for some time as we can see:

Unfortunately they are not always accurate, and so I have to agree with you.

I’ve been googling this news item and don’t find where the Bishop has backed down.

While I agree that homosexuality is intrinsically wrong and gravely disordered I also believe that abortion, and contraception are intrinsic evils too. A school website doesn’t need to publish that info.

Some things should be left for the counselling and pastoral care staff.

im from England, and this so called government money talk gets on my goat,it really does…

there is no such a thing as government money,it tax payers money…

and the majority of people do not believe or go for the PC world that they are preaching/pushing… infact i would say the majority of people know that it is a sin/wrongful act…

its just that they use the tax payers money against the tax payers… now work that one out…

its mind blowing how its got this far,and people voted them in…
WOW! What an excellent point! I wish I would have thought of that! I’ll be using that line quite often in the future!👍

While the money is the tax payers money, good luck trying to convey that to the Govt!!!

The government has this right for publicly funded schools. That point was made clear in the article. Presumably, the right would not exist if the school did not receive money from the Government.
What you are saying is false. A government does not have automatic rights because of funding. If that were true than a governent would have no rights at all because it collects money from taxpayers that do not agree on everything.

Another stinker from a Canadian bishop…not that one ought to expect much from the group that gave us the Winnipeg Statement.

Should a homosexual couple be allowed to have their pictures taken together in a church directory? Should they be taken individually or together? They claim they are married outside the church.
