Faith first and that applies to politicians as well.Check out an examination of conscience on line or at your local parish. One of the issues that is listed is:Have I participated in or helped someone procure an abortion? Pelosiand Biden et all are complicit in an indirect way by supporting abortion.By the way I heard a Catholic dr speak out on this issue. His statement is the right to life is the most fundamental of our rights as humans. To take that right away through abortion, deprives that life of all other liberties.
If the standard is “complicit in an indirect way” by failing to use the power of government in a tyrannical fashion to impose your will upon people who are not Catholics and do not share our beliefs about life - then Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden are indeed complicit.

However, “complicit in an indirect way” also means you will have to add Paul Ryan to your list of politicians, since his economic policies would lead to more abortions.

Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi are “True blue” Democrats, which has as part of its party platform the unmitigated, tax-payer-funded, access and provisioning of abortion on demand.
And the Republican platform would grant 14th Amendment protections to a fertilized egg. That is a recipe for unmitigated government tyranny over every woman of reproductive years.

Oh yes, so far Obama’s policies have resulted in increased reliance on welfare. So your argument doesn’t wash.

We had a parish town hall meeting yesterday. Based on statistics of the Archdiocese, our parish families’ median income declined over the past four years.

We RR supporters believe their economic policies will help the poor.

Conversely, forcing faithful Catholics and other Christians to support abortion through HHS and tax funded abortions is evil. That species argument, that Paul Ryan by way of his austerity measures to straighten out SS and Medicare, will cause more abortions is nonsense.

Moral Law, properly understood, is never tyranny. There have always been those people marginalized, be the Jews, Blacks, women, etc. as less deserving of protection under the law. You and Obama are only different in the ones you choose to marginalize as less than people. People use to think it was a matter of choice if a slave owner choose to kill a slave. Now Democrats are willing to do the same thing based on age. 🤷

I disagree with you as to who the real tyrants are.

How so? By declaring what the Church has already declare? OH MY GOD!!! IMagine if the government actually admitted to an absolute Truth!

A “fertilized egg” =zygote=earliest stage of human with unique dna.
Still not a “formed person”. It was not until the 19th century that scientists began to abandon the notion of preformationism - the theory of human development that most Catholic theology is based upon.

The Church never recognized sperm as “persons” and neither did the Founding Fathers.

Strawman. In fact, this whole line is a strawman. What is wanting to be stopped is deliberate abortion of known, growing people. Most Democrats are even comfortable with aborting the full term and viable babies!

Of course it isn’t! That is just silly.

Oh please, even you know the “sperm is a person” theory isn’t even held by the Church. As to the history of the Church’s teaching regarding abortion, it dates back centuries before you claim. Further even the ancient Greeks in the original Hippocratic Oath stated a physician will not cause a woman to abort. They didn’t say at what stage.

You have no argument.

Tyranny is an attribute that can only be applied to a person or institution that has power. A government can act as tyrant over many, a slave owner can act as tyrant over a few, and a pregnant women can act as tyrant over her unborn child.

So which form of tyranny is better or worse? Unlike every other marginalized group (Jews, Blacks, women, etc) - the unborn are NOT members of society. In order to protect them, the government must have the authority to violate the bodily integrity of every woman of childbearing years - otherwise, how can anyone know if there is a person inside?

This is a real problem to which no good solution has yet been provided. I do not endorse tyranny of any kind - but neither can I sit idly by and do nothing. That is why I support what I see as the lesser of two evils - a government that does not act as tyrant, but instead acts to mitigate the factors (social & economic) that compel individual women to kill their children. I believe this is the best strategy, because I believe God designed women for this task, which means it is against a woman’s nature to act as a tyrant over her unborn babies.

It is not a “strawman” when the Republican party platform calls for extending 14th Amendment protections to a fertilized egg. That means from the moment of conception - not from the point of implantation. This goes too far.

**I cannot bring myself to speak of the many virgins who daily fall and are lost to the bosom of the Church, their mother . . . Some go so far as to take potions, that they may insure barrenness, and thus murder human beings almost before their conception. Some, when they find themselves with child through their sin, use drugs to procure abortion, and when, as often happens, they die with their offspring, they enter the lower world laden with the guilt not only of adultery against Christ but also of suicide and child murder. **
(396 AD St Jerome Letters 22:13).

Let me get this straight. The Obama administration forces the Catholic Church against Her will to cover contraceptives. The Obama administration supports the legalized murder of the child in the womb at all stages. The Obama administration supports the redefining of the Sacrament of Matrimony to include homosexuals. The Obama administration even attempted to take God out of the Democratic platform…and then booed when that idea was overturned.

So then you are supporting Romney…correct?

Did you just equate a zygote with sperm?

In practice, a doctor can not perform and abortion until pregnancy is verified. The point of going back to conception is not to stop the morning after pill, which may never happen, but to stop early pregnancies.

What is stupid is to say that this protection intereferes with a woman’s reproductive rights. The banning of contraception has never been proferred by the Republican Party. Women are more than free to have babies or not have babies. What is immoral is having babies out of laziness or stupidity then killing them out of convenience.
