How could a Seventh Day Adventist’s upbringing be any worse than that of someone who sat in Reverend Jeremiah Wright’s church for two decades? That ‘minister’ preached in accordance with the tenets of black liberation theology (anti-white). He condemned America on several occasions.

The candidate’s religion can certainly be a disqualifier with particular groups, but apparently many Evangelicals and Catholics find a Mormon suitable. And the Church considers Mormonism a cult! Most Americans had no problem with Obama’s church, so go figure.
Right I’m one who had no problem with Obama’s church in voting for him. I have no problem with him worshiping and receiving communion now at St John’s Episcopal and I’m glad when I sat in a church and heard a priest say in his homily his answer to the poor is to get a job that I didn’t take it to heart. I think it’s great that Obama as a Christian has worshiped in denominations considered Christian by your church. I’m not sure though whether TEC considers itself a denomination or not. I know Catholics don’t consider themselves a denomination.

Again, what in Romney’s past actions, his varied successes in different realms would lead you to believe his Mormon faith was somehow negatively impacting his ability to be President of the United States? I agree some of the Mormon faith looks a bit strange from out here in the cheap seats. I’m not into white salamanders or golden plates. OTOH having lived in SLC for three years, having had a couple of Mormon converts in my family and from working with Mormons I have nothing but good things to say about their PERFORMANCE at their work and their good hearted charity toward their fellow man.

What someone believes, however far fetched, isn’t relevant unless they act upon that faith in a way that would concern a voter about their ability to run the country. Let’s face it Rich, there are plenty of non-Catholics who think our belief in the Real Presence is tin foil hat stuff. But does that mean the can’t accept us as co-workers, family members, neighbors or leaders?

Religious bigotry really fries my cheese Rich, and being a Catholic I would hope you’d have a little more sensitivity to how irrelevant and erroneous information creates suspicion where none is due.

Lisa
I agree with you. Neither candidate is a Catholic, so what religion they claim is irrelevant. The only thing relevant is how many babies will die or be saved and what happens to the definition of marriage depending on who gets elected.

I can only say you and I sure have different faiths. Those aren’t the only things relevant when I read the Gospels.

Correct. One candidate is a champion of abortion at all stages in the womb including partial birth abortion. One candidate is a champion of homosexual “marriage.”

And that person must NOT be re-elected!

If you think babies aren’t of the highest priority to God you probably haven’t read what Jesus says happens to anyone who causes a child to sin. How do you think God feels when babies get murdered by the millions for the false god of hedonism called “choice”?

Amen, brother.

Leaving obligatory Mass early without a good reason could be a sin. There was a time when I got frustrated once during the homily because the priest was talking about the occupy movement and why they were occupying. It seemed evident to me that he had no idea who these people were or what was going on.

I don’t think I thought about leaving, but I do know one of the priests in my county said people left during some kind of event at Church (I think it was a Mass) where he told them the parish would have to close for financial reason.

I find these acts to be selfish and against God. We need to be supportive of each other despite our differences of opinion.

Be on guard against anger!
I can see trying to be supportive when having different opinions. The rest is N/A to me.

I don’t know for sure. He didn’t mention the word abortion. I choose to believe in many cases He isn’t pleased about it. And personally if I were a woman, I’d never choose abortion. But at the same time He gave free will and I believe is a God of mercy and understands we live in a pluralistic society of many faiths and beliefs on the issue and understands how this fact affects secular law on the issue. I believe He understands why we make the choices we do and only He knows our hearts. When in faith He comes again then I’ll know who is right and who is wrong. In the meantime I can only walk by faith. Not by sight. God bless you in yours and Mickey too and peace be with you both.

God is also a just God. If one has had the opportunity to learn about him and we deliberately
choose to do what we know is wrong, we will suffer his punishment.
Jesus knew we would need his church to guide us. That is why we

I don’t think Jesus ever mentioned torture or capital punishment either. Does that mean it’s okay to be in favor of those?

…as long as the poor are taken care of by a bloated, federal bureaucracy, of course…

“You have heard that it was said, Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you…”

But of course yes in your faith you are allowed to be ok with capital punishment even though your CCC says cases for it are rare if not non existent.

Yes. The CCC specifically says that Church does not exclude recourse to the death penalty, if this is the only possible way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor.

Interestingly, though, you are not 100% on whether or not an innocent unborn human can be killed, based on Jesus’ teaching. 🤷

Does any Mormon temple espouse anything close to Reverend Wright’s hateful preaching at Trinity during the years Obama attended services there?
Does any Mormon espouse anything close to our Catholic beliefs? Learn about Mormonism. The answer is no.

How are chidren induced to sin?
How do you think God feels when babies get murdered by the millions for the false god of hedonism called “choice”?
Can anyone know what God feels? He is far above reacting to things the way we react to them. 🤷.

What is more troubling. . .a Mormon who has different beliefs from Catholic/nonCatholic Christian beliefs on the trinity, whether Christ was God, and what baptism means, but believes in the sacredness of life to a far greater extent than some of the Christian presidents of the last 20 years or so. . .or a Christian president whose actions belie the Christian beliefs of the sacredness of life by promoting a far greater promotion of abortion at all levels as a human right?

I’m just asking. . .

Bad example, scandal, etc can lead children to sin, depending on their age and understanding. We know that he cares for the least of his creatures, and that sin is
abhorrent to him. We can have some understanding what that means to him.

Some Christians believe the sanctity of life includes women’s lives.
