But some allow 5 year olds to own guns. 🤷

Gun rights covers everyone, without a criminal history, to own a gun, including the inept.

Then we come back to the center of these debates. Intentional murder, and gun violence, from an easy access to guns.
True; when we have a proper moral authority in the government, perhaps this issue could be decided.

When the gun grabbers support ā€œintrinsic evilsā€ their intentions may be diabolical.

So, should be there any legislation, I would trust the local level much more, State or below.

We are all aware of the loopholes through private sales, where not even names are exchanged. That just adds to an easy access to guns, that the bishops have spoken about.
Easy access to guns is a big problem. If you are going to supply more and more law abiding Americans with guns which give them the right to shoot and kill, then you are going to promote a great risk of accidental, untrained and unintended incidents of more killing and wounding of bystanders.

So, should be there any legislation, I would trust the local level much more, State or below.
So, we hold the issue ā€˜hostage’ until it meets our standards, politically? Until then it’s acceptable to let it continue. 🤷

When have we ever had a secular government with a 100% moral authority?

🤷 I think the Constitution was written and it serves that purpose and the State properly deals with it, not a centralized Federal Government, that is true.

You would not think that New York State and Texas should have the same kinds of gun laws? Don’t you believe God respects us as individuals?

I don’t believe there was a moral authority then either.
The Constitution is a Moral Authority and many think Divinely or Biblically Inspired, some founders like John Adams were holy men.
ā€œOur Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.ā€
The Constitution was modeled on the Constitution John Adams drafted for Massachusetts.

John Adams, others were holy men, there are whole books written on this and yes, people such as James Madison or Thomas Jefferson may have said contrary things from time to time.

Thus, the proper usage of the Constitution, ā€œConstructionistā€, that being what the Founders intended would be the proper way.

The Catechism, which I assume is of greater importance, calls for the regulation of guns.
2316 The production and the sale of arms affect the common good of nations and of the international community. Hence public authorities have the right and duty to regulate them. The short-term pursuit of private or collective interests cannot legitimate undertakings that promote violence and conflict among nations and compromise the international juridical order.
The 4 most recent mass shootings happened in 4 different states.

God calls us to live for one another.
Egoism leads nowhere. Love, however, frees. Therefore, those who are able to live their lives as ā€œa gift to give othersā€ will never be alone and will never experience ā€œthe tragedy of the isolated conscienceā€, easy prey of that ā€œevil repaying Satanā€ ever ā€œready to swindleā€ those who choose his path. Pope Francis gave this teaching on Tuesday morning, 14 May, to those present for the Mass celebrated in the Chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae.

I don’t find the constitution divinely, or God, inspired. The constitution allowed the government to legislate all laws that we have today, including the legalization of abortions. That same constitution is being used for gay marriage rights, etc. It is far from divine.

We are Catholics, we are called to a higher authority than that which is of men.

I find the Constitution divine, I said ā€œConstructionistā€ views, the Court has made up decisions out of whole cloth, they did not follow the Constitution per abortion rights. You can have whatever opinion you want. There were activist judges who according to most constitutional scholars did not follow what our founders laid out.

Yes, we are Catholics, I have followed Catholic teachings.

It’s not a ā€œnon-negotiableā€ issue. The Catechism should address a renegade government against Christian values as well.

Sorry, I do believe Jesus taught a single issue, that is to follow Him.
Love one another, as He loved us, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give shelter to the stranger, care for the sick, visit the imprisoned, love your enemy, do good to them that persecute you, avoid sin, render unto Caesar, render unto God, pray, and the list goes on. Of course these are directions of how to follow Him. There wasn’t a single teaching from Christ.
