These words of the Bishop bring to mind a story Fr. George Rutler told on his EWTN show.
He said there once was a Methodist pastor who cautioned a woman that she should be concerned about the state of her eternal soul. Her reply was something like God would never condemn (send to hell) the soul of an English Duchess.

I’m sorry that the drive was bad for you! Rain is never fun to drive in, especially if you drove on an interstate. I’m very glad to hear that the cathedral was nearly full. 🙂

I prayed for you and all the others there precisely during that hour.
 
A 10 foot by 8 foot sized photo of the Governor ( a “catholic” ) next to him, would have been appropriate, perhaps with the enormous photo capitioned with this,
in letters 12 inches high: “Matthew 12:31, 32; Hebrews 6:4-8; Hebrews 10:26-31”
since all three scriptures can reference the same apostasy we are witnessing these days.

I personally do not know how to handle this situation.
I am shocked to discover that over half of my friends
support same sex marriage. Even people who consider
themselves Christians.
I truly do not know how to witness to such folks.
The Direct Approach? Or with gentle tact?
I’ve never seen such rampant apostasy in my entire life
as I see in the once Christian world today.
Has nearly our entire generation Blasphemed the Spirit
and is what we are watching happen,
merely a demonstration of the fact that God has declared
our generation reprobate and is publicly
displaying that he has given most of us over to destruction?
Or is it just bad catechesis?
Or are we just too sentimental
and condone anything and everything
so long as it is allegely done in the name of SOME FORM of “love” ?

Evil is defined as whatever is opposed to the will of God. So, there is no “if the RCC affirms that same-sex marriage is evil” since it clearly is in direct opposition to God’s will. “Gay” activists admit as much by coming out with their own bible which omits all the parts which condemn homosexual behavior. People have been deceived with SS’M’ which a doctrine of demons at its core. The act is evil, and it also symbolizes evil. It doesn’t have to be either/or.

I’ve thought a bit about these very things! In amazement we watch our Catholic friends fall victim to the modern culture and the rejection of all that is Godly. Not to be a defeatist for we must continue to pray and witness when we can, but even gentle witness is cause for some to retaliate, after all, this is a war we are fighting against those totally entrenched in Satan’s deception. It is my opinion that it’s too large for us to handle, and although we may win a few isolated battles, the war will certainly be ended when Christ raises his hand against his enemies. In the meantime, it is good for us to stay true and simply wait upon the Lord.

You know, we stopped at little town (cannot recall the name) on our way back for a potty break, We did not really look around as it was dark. As we pulling out of the gas station we glanced around and noticed what I first thought was a junkyard of some sort. I then looked down by my door and saw a mangled sign on the ground.

It turns out that what we saw was tornado damage, the “junk yard” was a destroyed building. :gopray2:
 
With regards anyone’s surprise that the states, and these nominal Catholic politicians, falling like flies, it’s not as if the Church did not see this coming.

But the pulpit remained silent and let the language that speaks of these things be fashioned by the adversaries. So now when we read of it in the media we read such words as “against same sex marriage” “opposed to marriage equality” etc… Distortions all…

Had the pulpit spoken out early, it could have promoted the accurate terms to describe this condition in affirmative terms like, “campaign to re-define marriage”, nothing more nothing less.

So on all those Sundays past, no one had his comfort zone disturbed by the preaching about the sanctity of marriage, and the need to preserve its identity. And now we suffer the consequences.

Furthermore, the problem of politicians, and other celebrities, acting contrary to Church teachings often harkens back to a Catholic school education that wasn’t Christ-focused enough.

All this said, Catholics will never give up spreading the Gospel Truth.
