And yet this fall in the general election you’ll have many “catholics” voting yet again for candidates that favor: abortion (surgical and chemical), contraception (a known bridge to abortion), homosexual disordered behaviors ( some wanting to change defintions of what marriage is) and lets not forget government ran social programs that are by nature designed to perpetuate government dependance hence maintaining that voting block (kinda like buying votes, don’t bite the hand that feeds you).

When Obama stated he is going to fundamentally change America, did anyone not believe him? It’s frightening that no one asked Obama what he will change it to.

Obama has been on a massive federal power grab since day one and no one has batted an eye.

If Obama gets in a second term, America deserves what it gets. Yes, I will be circling the drain as well, but I will be suffering at the hands of other people’s choices and innocent.

We already have martial law provisions signed by Famous Barak on December 31, 2011 in the NDAA / National Defense Appropriations Act–with a “sorry” note attached. So what’s a little more control? Catholic couples already contracept at a rate of 68%. Sterile sex-only marriages…So why not gay marriage? Seriously. We have delinked sex from marriage; marriage from children. Gotta give the devil his due. Sure, we have yet to pass those “prescription only” vitamin laws. Or the SOPA internet censorship stuff that let’s the government directly censor content instead of doing it through Google. So all is not lost. The conscience exemption is being fought in Great Britain’s socialized medicine circles with Scottish Presbyterian and Irish Catholic midwives scrapping with the bureaucracy. Note that countries having an established midwife system have a lower birth mortality rate than the USA, that discourages midwife practitioners. These women are being asked to participate in and supervise abortion procedures. How’s that for crass as these women tend to be more than ordinarily motherly. The ancient Germans and Jews refused to kill their young in abortion and exposure to the elements after birth. The Hippocratic Oath that forbade killing patients and performing abortions was quietly removed in processing med school graduates. Whether we reclaim our rights or not is going to define our century.

I love your signature line…it says it all in a nutshell.

I think the 2008 election was a true eye opener for some people. It was a glaring mandate on the state of the Catholic Church in America. If there was a question about apathy and divide in the Church prior to the election, there was a crystal clear picture after the election. Yep, you are correct…we certainly do deserve what we get, and if they vote him in again, the Church will be on the skids in this country.

“Never before has the federal government required individuals and organizations to go out into the marketplace and buy a product which violates their conscience.”

It’s anti-religous, anti-Catholic, anti-conscience protection, it violates 1st Amendment freedom of religion, and evidences this administration’s contempt for religious liberty.

I have to say I’m a bit disappointed …I don’t think “sharply criticizes” is really an accurate description of how this thing plays. I love Archbishop Dolan, but where is his passion? Where is his conveyance on the true danger and severity of this decision for not only Catholics but all Christians to get people engaged and fired?

This comes across sounding like a public service announcement.

While I agree that we need midwives here and I hope the midwives in Scotland and Ireland can win their rights, it must be pointed out that most countries do not count pre-mature or sick babies who don’t make it in their infant mortality stats, and the US does. We also have a better record on saving those babies. It’s a small quibble, especially since you are totally right about midwives being the best care a baby and mother can receive.

Only in America can you take a perfectly working female reproductive system, break it so it doesn’t work, and call it reproductive health. 🤷

I don’t know about all you folks, but I am going to be writing some strongly-worded letters to my federal Senators for Ohio, and to my Congressional Representative, who is, unfortunately, the Catholic but pro-abortion, Hon. Marcy Kaptur. I think the Obama administration has lost its rudder. Or its mind!?!

You’re right. But remember, one bishop compared a homosexual group to the KKK and got criticized for being too inflammatory. He apologized. He did nothing wrong; his comparison was accurate. Their speech does need to raise emotions, stimulate minds, deliver clear information.

Top Catholic bishop feels betrayed by Obama
In the wake of President Obama’s controversial decision to mandate that religious groups pay for contraceptives for their employees, much of the coverage focused on how the president had disappointed progressive allies by giving religious groups an extra year to comply.
New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan is facing pressure from other bishops to take a more confrontational stance toward the White House.
But the decision also had New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, feeling personally betrayed.
“I have to say, there’s a sense of personal disappointment,” Dolan said Tuesday after he gave a lecture on “Law and the Gospel of Life” at Fordham Law School.

Last November, amid deepening tensions between the bishops and the administration over the pending contraception mandate and other issues, Obama invited Dolan to the Oval Office, where the two men shared what Dolan called a productive and “extraordinarily friendly” meeting.
“The president seemed very earnest, he said he considered the protection of conscience sacred, that he didn’t want anything his administration would do to impede the work of the church that he claimed he held in high regard,” Dolan recalled on Tuesday. “So I did leave a little buoyant.”
That optimism ended last Friday, however, when Obama phoned Dolan to tell him that he was not expanding the conscience exemption to include religious institutions — such as Catholic hospitals, universities and social service agencies. In a bid to appease critics like Dolan, the White House gave church organizations an extra year to find a way to comply with the mandate that all health insurance plans provide free contraceptive coverage.
“I had to share with him that I was terribly let down, disappointed and disturbed, and it seemed the news he had given me was difficult to square with the confidence I had felt in November,” Dolan said.
Dolan indicated that his preference is to keep the lines of communication with the administration open. But Dolan is already facing pressure from other bishops to take a more confrontational stance toward the White House.
Dolan was scheduled to leave Wednesday for a nine-day spiritual pilgrimage to Israel; after a brief return to New York, he will head to Rome where he will be formally elevated to the rank of cardinal by Pope Benedict XVI.

The sleeping giant is starting to shake its head and realize we’re not in Kansas anymore. This from the cornerstone Sees in the U.S.:

Maybe, after all these years of chasing modernity, the new crop of leaders is beginning to confront it head on. Will the “faithful” - in their uncatechized state - follow?
The HHS mandate is an outrage. But are Catholics paying attention? Do they care that the Obama administration wishes to euthanize the Church? Unfortunately many of them may still be living in the land of Oz.

I have been saying this from the beginning of my faith journey (complete with the sleeping dragon bit).

The quote in post #10 is illuminating. This certainly is a huge betrayal by this administration, and Archbishop is right to take it as such. One has to wonder how the bishops ever expected anything BUT betrayal from this administration. One can only hope that this decision will not stand. It is certainly an unconstitutional infringement on religious liberty.

Not only that, but since birth control including abortifacients are now MANDATED coverage by HHS as a matter of equality for women (except for unborn women), one has to anticipate that abortion coverage will be the next thing mandated. If this stands, there is nothing to stop it.

Here’s an interesting article from the WSJ:

Yes, a betrayal of magnanimous proportions. But, I think it has taken time, even for our Bishops to realize WHO they are dealing with. Honesty has never been one of the Presidents strong suits. (this is an understatement) How often has he said one thing and done the complete opposite? They might be realizing that he has to be watched carefully. Anyone that has closely followed him during this past 3 years KNOWS that he is not to be trusted.

But as the Archbishop has stated, we cannot afford to strike out on this one. If this one is lost we are headed down the road of Nazi Germany. I truly think his goal is to wipe out all Christian based health care so that the American people can be totally controlled by the government. Now, if that’s not enough to make anyones toes curl, be they Christian or not, I don’t know what is.
