I’m sorry, did I accidentally lead people to believe I’m the secretary/spokesman/close friend/wife/daughter of the Minneapolis Chief of Police? Oh, wait. I get the confusion: He’s black; therefore I must be able to answer for his actions and inactions. Totally understandable mixup. I’ll get back to you on that. I wasn’t prepared, my apologies.

Just in general, people are protesting about racial injustice, right? Police killings of black men, right?
So is it meaningful that people are calling for justice, but the only person who really can hire / fire / discipline / lead / train Minneapolis police officers is himself African American?

I disagree with the whole notion of being colorblind. God made every child they way he did for a reason. I’m white and I’m proud to be white. No apologies whatsoever. Those of other colors ought to also be equally proud of what God gave them. We should all be equal but unafraid of our differing colors.

Pride is usually not a good thing. Pride in something that we have no say over makes less sense. Perhaps “unashamed” is a better way to view that with which we were given from birth.

But even then, there is such an interconnection between all people that it is natural to feel shame and the need for amends on behalf of others. The Catholic Church has had to do this for people who have died centuries ago. I am quite ashamed and embarrassed at some of my fellow Catholics, and my fellow Americans, because I am a part of them. When a family has a son that commits mass murder, even if they could not do a thing about it, will naturally feel shame for the family.
