If the smoke is white at any point tomorrow, then I would say we should probably get out to celebrate either a Scola or Scherer victory with a cyber :clapping: , or perhaps Ouellet. Given that these three are the media frontrunners, it would likely mean a win for one of their “camps” so to speak. If black smoke arises tomorrow and the voting goes on to Thursday, Scola or Scherer - if media hype about them is too be believed - may have been unable to receive a two-thirds majority and so the cardinals will be looking for a compromise candidate as with the 1978 conclaves. If no pope is elected on Thursday, then we should probably look in the direction of more outside candidates such as Ravasi, O’Malley, Dolan, Tagle or Schonborn. If no pope is elected on Friday, then we will know for sure that a compromise candidate has had to be found.
Alternatively, vaticanists might be totally wrong about Scola and Scherer’s popularity among their peers.
Just my two :twocents:
