And yet, still irrelevant. The matter at hand is the stance of this one particular organization towards African-Americans. What anyone here things of any other organization has nothing whatsoever to do with that, and to claim otherwise is fallacious.
Now, one could question why a person who doesn’t care about how this one thing effects African-Americans cares about how this other does, though that would still have nothing to do with the thread’s topic. And keep in mind that it is a perfectly reasonable response that it isn’t that they don’t care how it affects African-Americans but that they don’t know, or possibly that having analyzed the data they have come to the conclusion (erroneously or not) that it is not detrimental. In other words, it needn’t be a incongruity.

You know I don’t understand this ceaseless and obsessive vilification of Margaret Sanger. She is DEAD, and has been for some time. If indeed she was a racist, she shared that opinion with millions of her fellow Americans. That really has nothing whatsoever to do with PPH today. Ninety-eight percent of all Americans use contraception. You are not going to change many minds if any. It is simply a fact in American life. Catholics are the ONLY group that protest their use. The medical community and most social agencies continue to support contraception for the obvious health and avoidance of pregnancy reasons.

Well, this is a Catholic website. I don’t think it should be considered obsesssive to point out the views of the person who started the organization which has a basic philosophy directly opposed by the teachings of the church.
PPH today has naturally progressed into something much worse than what she started. Sanger was against abortion(I just learned this today doing research).

In my community Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers has been prominant in opposition to the siting of a Planned Parenthood Anborton Clinic on Martin Luther King Jr Blvd [hows that for irony] in a predominantly African American area of Portland Oregon … He knows who Margaret Sanger is …He knows the harm that Planned Parenthood visits upon minorities and others … he knows the human cost and pain Planned Parenthood brings to his community …
What he does not get is the “well meaning” liberal activist who put his community down by while saying on the one hand ***"***they are smart enough to do it themselves" while enacting policies and programs that essentially say they can’t tke care of themselves or are incapable of doing so and they need ever more government programs and assistance.

The website “Black Genocide” has been exceptionally helpful in my deeper understanding of the abortion/ contraception tragedy in our culture. I was first introduced to the true teachings of Margaret Sanger’s racism by a local black priest and a black co-worker (non-Catholic Christian man.)
I used to think that Planned Parenthood was just another health clinic out to help people. As I started to study deeper I found the damage of the legacy of contraception and abortion, especially on the poor and minorities. Sanger was very pro-abortion. She was anti illegal abortion. For her, abortion was a fiscal problem. Contraception was cheaper, but the purpose was the same. As the tag-line on her Birth Control Review read, “Birth Control-to create a breed of thoroughbreds.” The black genocide site has links to her own writings about getting the clinics in the black neighborhoods for the purpose of eliminating blacks.
Black genocide has articles about why MLK jr. and other religious leaders of the time bought into her ideals. Her charisma and calculating ways made her very approachable. She was very convincing to these very educated men that she had their best interest at heart. She was very careful about whom she shared her abortion ideologies with. As can be seen from this thread alone it is still believed she was anti-abortion. It wasn’t until decades of having these clinics in operation that the numbers told the real story.
Blacks are being aborted at a much higher rate than their population proportion. Blacks were not growing in wealth by reducing their numbers, as Sanger had promised. The authors point out that their entire race is still affected by these horrible ideas that she carefully wove into society.

Okay, do you not have anything original to say? Margaret Sanger is dead but her racist eugenic ways live on today. Planned Parenthood’s beginnings were thanks to Margaret Sanger and they honor her memory with lies of her compassion for women. Truly she wanted to wipe out blacks and anyone she deemed unfit. Granted her thoughts were that these people should be rounded up and not allowed to reproduce thereby weeding them out of the population and Planned Parenthood has gone another route - killing the black child in the womb - but the intention and the result is the same.
If you are at all active in the pro-life struggle you know that the name of Margaret Sanger can not be allowed to be put to rest. It started with her and continues to the tune over tens of millions since she lived. Her legacy lives on.
