You are righteous in your disgust, and what you say regarding art is also, tragically, very much on the money. I might include, a form of subtle art, comedy, as another form of expression which has been almost entirely co-opted by the vulgar and the profane. In America, the faithful are subjected to the most base, and venal disparagement of all that we, people of faith (the vast majority) hold sacred, by a group of self-,described,{ “comedians”} , who hide behind this form of expression, while they spew blasphemies…the likes of which have never before been tolerated in the history of our nation.
Here is a list of so-called comedians ( in truth, atheists, anarchists, and worse) that I have boycotted (my family as well) for egregious blasphemies, too numerous to note: Bill Maher; Jon Stewart; Larry David (remember he urinated on a Catholic icon…as humor!!); Sarah Silverman; Penn and Teller; David Cross; Whoopie Goldberg, and Joy Behar. A good archivist could post numerous examples of their blasphemies, since they occur with regularity.
The new anti-Christian coalition is sophisticated, and they are determined. That they use the cover of artistic license, and freedom of expression, to attack the sacred, the holy and the eternal, should not deter those among us who love Christ, and the profound grace which such belief has afforded our culture, from speaking and acting against what could be best described as a diabolical attack on goodness, truth, beauty, and faith.
