My sympathies to all who are down during the holidays, especially to those who are grieving losses.

Christmas this year is going to be really screwy for us, since it’s on a Saturday, right in the middle of my work week. In all the confusion of coming off a 13-hour night, trying to decide which Mass I need to attend, and trying to get enough sleep to make it through another 10-hour night, there’s not going to be any time for Christmas, as most people understand the meaning of the word. We probably won’t even be doing a Christmas dinner.

On the good side, SU hasn’t yet mentioned getting the Christmas tree and decorations out yet. That’s a Good Thing, because I just don’t feel like decorating this year. I love looking at other people’s decorations, but I hate decorating our own place.

Blue is pretty…I had a blue fake tree one year…probably because I was blue! Anyway, we cut a nice GREEN one the day after Thanksgiving every year now… I just have to get out of myself and my “poor me” attitude and decorate it! Not to minimize what you are going through…someone else posted I think here??? “Bloom where you are planted” and “When you get lemons you make lemonade”
Sounds good anyways:rolleyes: …from experience…not always possible… this is why we brothers and sister in Christ need each other so very much! We can make a difference! When two or three…
Ed, I’ll be your sister or mother…which ever the case may be and I will hold you up in prayer for this whole season…will you do it for me too?:yup: Annunciata:)
:gopray2: :blessyou:
Thank you so much! I will light a candle for you the next time I go to my church.
I believe God is calling me to remain single for the rest of my life, and the times will become VERY lonely. Of course I pray that if He wants to provide me with a girlfriend or a wife He will do so, if not I will be single forever. :crying:

space ghost:
SG, Thanks for your very kind words…they mean a lot to me…even though you remaine so elusive… 😛
Merry Christmas Annunciata, a whole lot of people care about you and that is definitely something to smile about… 👍
That IS definitely something to smile about… now I’m gonna cry because you have made me feel so good!😉

Lots of love and the joy of Christmas right back at you SG!

Hi Aimee! You are the kind one…
and I always try to post what is in my heart at the time…I most always pray before posting so I’ll have to give credit to the Holy Spirit if it bears good fruit! Soooo see how much God loves you!!!
God Bless,

Hmmm, I hope this Christmas will be Joyous, but this is the first Christmas without my Dad so its going be rough for the family… but all I can think about is if I get sad during Christmas then I’d offer it up to God as a sacrifice for the conversion of sinners and relief of the souls in Purgatory.
Reading this thread … makes me look [feel] like a Smurf so I think I’ll say tonight a Chaplet for the Dead [for our lost loved ones] and maybe this might help a bit and feel like “chestnuts roasting on an open fire.” :gopray: :bounce::love:

…“and Jack Frost nipping at your nose”…
‘Offering it Up’ is the best thing to do when God permits suffering of any kind… I’m sorry your Dad isn’t going to be here physically this year…he is spirtually though…he’ll help you through it…mine does every year…
God Bless, Annunciata:)

Funny you should say that, My Dad’s fav. flowers were Tulips which are very very hard to come by during this time of the year and my sister saw some and pick some up for Thanksgiving, and my sister’s boyfriend who lives 736 miles saw tulips too and thought of my Dad. very weird. 😃

This year will be our 2nd Christmas without mom:( I don’t think it will be as bad as last year was but it’s going to be hard. Maybe I’ll put up some decorations…we didn’t last year.

Pray for us:thumbsup:

BTW: Misericordie…I’ll take your flowers, but I like Irises and chrysanthemums 😃

My Daddy’s was the rose…he had a deep devotion to the “Little Flower” and so did my husband…so I guess I’ll give them each some roses and I’ll include your Dad too! smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_3_11.gif

They really are always with us whether spiritually or in just those wonderful memories we have of them.
Annunciata:)
p.s. I get roses at odd times too… and I have to wonder…It’s when you get the scent of roses and they aren’t there…

I know this is off topic, but where are you finding those extra large ‘new’ smiley faces? I think their cool!
I’ll have the ‘blues’ if no one tells me.

La Chiara:
They don’t show up as smileys on my screen–just as a link. So I have to click on the link to see the smiley. Is that true for everyone? Whereas the CA smileys show up as smileys on my screen.
Yes in a sense…I had to download some stuff to get it on my toolbar
and then I just click on the Icon.
Here is another site:

Hope this helps.

My Christmases were kind of blue when I was a kid, because my parents were divorced and my mother was very unhappy at Christmas, no doubt missing her own family. Then, in my 20s I met a family of people who were fun and became sort of a pseudo-family for me and we had great jolly holidays together. The patriarch of that family died and other members moved away, so I was back to square one.

I think Christmas music really, really works the emotions because you’ve heard the songs all your life, from earliest infancy, and they have all these associations good and bad. Plus, here in Montana the days are getting really short and it’s all darkness and depression. Typically I read a lot more, get more into music and my faith.

But that said, this year I’m not doing as bad as in years past because I managed to get involved in some new activities that are interesting to me and get me out of the house. If I don’t have something going on in my life,s ome project–political, athletic, artistic or whatever–then I’m miserable any time of year.
