Boston College threatens action in condom giveaway

This is an example of why there is no peace in the world. If a student chooses to go to a Catholic College, they should show some respect for that religion and not hand out free condoms, which is blatantly against Church teaching. So disrespectful and meant to just cause controversy.

I’ll bet you won’t see them going to a Muslim school to hand out free pork.

What would happen if the administration at BU would suspend every student who was involved with passing out condoms or supporting it? Handing out condoms and/or the public supporting of contraception has nothing to do with academic freedom!
I am quite sure they could find something in their student rules and regulations allowing that. All they would have to do is do it one time to show they are serious. Any legal action against the school would be laughed out of court, since the students were acting against the religious beliefs of the institution.
Believe me it wouldn’t hurt their admissions because the parents who pay the freight would, being Catholic, would have to back the University.
What better way to enforce the Catholicity of the school? As for not being charitable, since when is tolerating sin being charitable?

Catholic universities offer support to Boston College on condom giveaway stance

Boston College is getting support from prominent Catholic universities in its efforts to stop a student group from giving away condoms on campus.

According to the Boston Globe, officials at Catholic colleges and universities – including Notre Dame, Georgetown and Catholic University – say their policies are similar to that of Boston College, which threatened disciplinary action against students distributing condoms on school grounds.

“One of the teachings of our faith is that contraception is morally unacceptable,” Victor Nakas, a spokesman for Catholic University, told the paper. “Since condoms are a form of contraception, we do not permit their distribution on campus.”

Boston College draws support on condom distribution ban

Despite attacks against Boston College for its prohibition of condom distribution on campus, the school says its rules are similar to those of many prominent Catholic universities across the U.S.

“All Catholic colleges and universities have policies that ask students to be respectful of Catholic values,” Boston College spokesman Jack Dunn told CNA April 2. “We refer to them as ‘Catholic Commitments.’”

“We ask students to understand that we have a unique faith perspective, and when they enroll in our institutions, they should be respectful of our Catholic values,” he added.

Dunn said the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities has been “very supportive” of the college. The association believes that the college’s policies are “very consistent” with those at Catholic universities throughout the U.S., he explained.
